Hi, about 5 months ago I bought a 39w x 2 T5 retro to suppliment my MH's. I has worked and looked great - except now it wont power up. I made sure the bulbs were seated properly and they are, so I don't know how to do anymore troubleshooting. The bulb ends look fine - I cant imagine one burnt out but maybe it's a possibility. With it plugged in the ballast is cold to the touch.

Do you think its the ballast, a bulb or possibly wiring come loose?

thanks

Check the wiring. I once saw Jeremy troubleshoot a similar problem and all he did was make sure that the wires were seated properly in the ballast.

Yeah, the first thing is to make sure all the wires are seated properly. If that fails, try new lamps. The ballast is rarely the problem, but it's not impossible.. still, you have to rule out the other causes before you can consider it a failed unit.

The wiring appears to be fine. I didnt check where the wires go into the endcaps, but everything is zip-tied so I can't imagine that anything came loose there. The ballast connections all look physically ok.

Does anyone have one or two 36" T5 bulbs on the north shore I could borrow?
