i keep trying to upload pictures but it says file to large. my software goes by pixels, so when it says max size so many kb it is not english to me. what is the max pixels? also, when i downsize my images it gets fuzzy and to small to even make out by the time it is small enough to be posted.

Derek: I don't think there's a maximum size in pixels... keeping it at around 800x600 is a good idea, though, so that it fits on most people's screens.
There is however, as you found, a maximum size in bytes... it's 96KBytes.
First, resize the image to 800x600, or whatever size you prefer, then save it as a JPEG (.jpg extension), varying the compression ratio (sometimes called "picture quality") until it fits under 96KB... this varies from image to image, I've found that at the 800x600 size you usually need to be around the 50% quality setting.
What software are you using? I may be able to give you more details if I know what you're using.
