View Full Version : Power sensing battery air pumps
Would any of our sponsors be interested in organizing a group buy on battery air pumps, they must be the type which turn on automatically when the power goes out.
It may also be useful for any members interested in this to post their interest here to see if there is enough interest in this.

after looking into my distributors, I found that they were all on backorder and do not have an expected delivery time.
it might be better to check in with BRS sponsors who have them on hand rather than wait for a back order

DOH! What happened to em :)

ok well I got an email back from penn plax today. I cna order cases of 24, so far I have more then that. They will cost about $7 each (including shipping).
not going to find them cheaper direct. Thats for sure. most retailers are selling them between $10-$14.
last time dave ordered ~144.
that = 288 batteries. :)
Are these the ones that automatically turn on when the power goes off?
I have a plug in unit that only operates when it senses no power and it was in the range of $50. This is the type I'm looking for.
Thanks,
Michele (PS will be off line until Monday)

Itelus (not Itelus) why don't you contact Pen Plaxx and start the process? I'd think there will be interest for at least 50 pumps.

Yeah, that's how the ones operate that we ordered last year. They were less than $10 though.

I am waiting to hear back from Penn Plax. I was not going to post until I had conformation from them. If you guys want to run with it go ahead, or we could sponsor the groupbuy. It is totally up to you guys.
We do have several in stock.

Hey guys & Girls,
I have some good news and some bad news. Good news is I have secured a good amount of these. Unfortunately, Penn-Plax does not have any to go direct. Our rep said that they just shipped 400 units to one of our distributors. The bad thing is that I could not get the price that Dave got last year. The rep said that they have gone up in price (what hasn't :( ) plus now we would be buying them from a dist. not direct, so I am sure tht the dist is going to try and make some money. They did offer us an additional 10% off. So, if people are still interested we will be glad to put this together.
We would be able to offer them for $8.50
If people are still interested I will post a thread in the Skipton's forum.

How much tank area would one of these cover? How many for a 75 reef for example?

Can you confirm me for (4) @ $8.50 each?
How would you like us to pay you?
Thanks!

Yes, these are the Penn-Plax Silent air B11. They plug in and when they no longer sense electricity, they turn on and run off of 2 batteries (D batteries, I believe)
I will post a thread in the Skipton forum to confirm orders and keep track of them.
Unfortunately, I have to work on Saturdays, so I would not be able to bring them to a meeting.
Payment would either be Cash upon pickup or prepay via Mastercard/Visa/Discover.
Pickup is at the store, unless other private arrangements between members are made.

We have posted a thread for the group buy in the Skipton Pet Center forum. Anyone interested in ordering, please place your order in that post. If you have already posted here, please also put your order in the Skipton Pet Center forum. This will enable us to keep track of the orders.
