Dave - thanks for the tips on resizing and optimizing - they really helped. I still haven't bought a new camera. I still can't decide whether I want small and portable for travelling, or bigger but better macros for tank shots. Still confused....between Nikon Coolpix 5200 for travel or Fuji Finepix S5000 for great tank macros.
In any case, here's a pic of my peppermint shrimp and turbo snail using my old, crappy camera!

As an owner of a fiju s7000 I really have to say the macro is amazing, and the size is not that big. yes its bigger then your standard point and shoot, but its not outrageous. I am not sure about what features the 5000 has, but the ability to manually adjust everything (shutter speed, apeture, iso, etc etc etc) really helps with pics of the tank and on vacation. The one negative I have to say is I wish I could have a lower iso (100 or 50), that is my only wish. Nikon makes a good camera also, but I just don't know enough about it.

I know...I love the macro on those Fujis (dad300 bought an S5000 and that's why it's on my short list - he posted some pretty awesome pics of his tank). I'm just not sure if it will be too big for me to carry on vacation. Decisions, decisions....
Thanks for the input.

I took mine with me to costa rica and I did not think it was too big. the way I figured I had a small bag with me most of the time anyway so it was fine in there.

Thanks again for the info - I'll go check the Fujis out again at Ritz. Love your avatar - is that an anemone behind the clown on the zoos - LOL??

Don't buy the fuji from ritz though, they will rake you over the coals, you can find vendors online that will sell it much cheaper. Yes that is a rose behind the clown. Drives me batty to see...
