Just curious, where did you find this guy? I love these things, but have only seen about two in my life, and one wasn't one this continent. Nice pic too.

To be real technical, I would have liked it more if you had the whole bug in frame. A bit of the thorax, legs, and the antenea are out of frame. Just trying to give some feedback, but it is still a great shot.

nice pic jim...i kept one as a buddy for a couple of hours on a very strange day...

Keith,

I agree thet picture was not cropped very well.

This guy has been hanging around my back yard for the last two or three days. I found him looking like he is trying to get in the screen door twice, so I put him back out in the yard. I usually see at least one every summer down here.

Now is the best time to find them. It's breeding season. Usually you find the females
looking for a solid surface to lay eggs. They seem to like house foundations behind
the shingles.

my mom lives in a very urban part of everett, she bought one of those praying mantis egg cases from a garden store...there are hundreds in her yard, there are so many they start eating each other.
