you have a beautiful tank... how big is it ?
It's 11FT X 2.5 X 2.5 with a 6X2.3 X2 sump and a 2.5 cube sump also.
Gary if I remember correct I saw this tank on reefs.org and you had a couple of Morish Idols in it. It is an amazing tank and love to be able to have a tank of that size someday! How are the Idols doing and if you have any tips on keeping them because I would like to give them a try someday. Welcome to the BRS and thanks for sharing the pics of your tank!
Hi Ray The idols had to be removed as they were causing damage to a lot of the lps corals. As much as i love them, they are not worth losing corals over. I believe as long as they have plenty of swimming space, and are in a tank with loads of live rock, the survivability is excellant.

Well it's around 650 gals (british)
11x2.5x2.5 display
2x sumps
main sump fuge 6x2.4x2 and the second sump is a 2.5 cube
It has 5x 400 watt halides fitted with 10.000blv's although i seemed to get better growth with 6500k iwasakis. The tank is also supplemented with 4x 150 watt phillips o3 actinics.
The fuge is lit with 6 household 18 watt 4.3k tubes which give excellant growth to the 3 spcs of calerpa which grow there. The fuge is also lit 24/7. The other sump is lit on reverse cycle to the main tank, and just has a DSB with loads of critters in there.
The tank is skimmed by a huge turboflotor 5000 twin run by 3x 3500 or's. Ozone is added at 200mg's into the skimmer and is controlled by the octopuss which moniters and controls the ozone.
Filtration is by DSB's in both sumps, there is only a sprinkling of sand in the main tank for asthetics. There is also 350 kgs of grade A fiji and some vanwanto (spelling)
There is no mechanical filtration at all, all sediment gets trapped in the fuge.
There are 82 fish 29 differant spcs in the tank. They are fed at least 8 times a day with ocean nutrition pellets and heavy amounts of large Mysis.
There are also a huge selection of reef janiters in the tank.
turbo snails, red legs, 30 plus brittle stars etc etc.
there are around 15 cleaner shrimps and 6 blood reds, both perform cleaning duties which is unusal for the blood reds in captivity.
The tank is waiting to be stripped at the moment, Due to a divorce settlement. It was a hard decision but a tank is just a tank and i will have another nice one again one day. this has been running since april 02 and is due to be stripped around the end of october mid november.
I have just started a new tank for my friend over here in the states. It's a 60 gal hex. We are going to run it as a fowlr set up. It so far has 70 pounds of live rock. 30 pounds of various live sand. A Seaclone skimmer  a rena xp 3 external just for mechanical filtration, a few power heads and thats it.

Hi Garry,
You have a great view on life to be able to put the tank behind you and look forward to the next one. My first thought on seeing all the pictures was "He has a school of yellow tangs!" That is\was an awesome tank and I look forward to hearing about your next setup. Welcome to this side of the pond.

Garry...you have a nice pond across the pond
Well the tank is going to be stripped soon. But i have moved on. I have just started a tank over here. It's a 60 gallon hex. Here are some shots. And not a computer or wave machine in sight :D
thie 60 gall is set up using............
95 pounds of live rock
75 pounds of sand (aragonite) 25 pounds of this being live
A rena XP3 external for mechanical filtration only
A Seaclone 150 skimmer
2x Maxijets 1200's
3xmarine tubes IE:
aquaglow
powerglow
lifeglow (actinic)
And a good clean up crew IE:
18 turbos
25 various hermits
1 emerald crab
10 ceriths
it is doing very well, and has gone through no Algy blooms at all. (YET)
And it has now been running 12 days and all levels are very promising.
Well it's now been running 35 days, and very successful to say the least. There has been no algal blooms at all. Also it was nice to meet a few local people at the aquaaddicts open day on monday. HELLO to all i spoke to. :D
