Hope this is the right forum...

Guy in Framingham can get 55g drums formly from the food industry. Currently they are $14 for closed top, or $20 for open top with lid (must arrange special for open top.)

He said he has a LOT more than the 3 in the photo.

Just spoke to the guy and picked up the drum (was in great shape.) He says he can get 30g drums if people email him ahead of time.

Just got back from there picking up another barrel. He's got 3 55g open top (more coming this week), several 55g closed top, and a stack of 30g as well.

Good post guys. Picked up a 55gal open top w/ lid and a 35 gal open top w/ lid tonight for $35 total. Meeting Russ was a fun experience in an off itself. Very satisfied, thanks for calling this to the members attention.

I ended up with a 55 for RODI, and a 30 for mixed salt water......

Bleach got the stink out too, can barely smell the mustard or balsamic any more

I just picked up two 30g barrels. Russ is a heck of a nice guy.
He has some 55g and some 30g barres left, but once they're gone, he is out.
His lost his connection to the barrels.

BTW: Russ lives in Framingham, for those who wonder about the location. Easy to get to, right off route 30.

How did you guys clean 'em out? I got them soaking in a bleach solution now.

That's too bad about the lost connection. He was having a nice supplemented retirement from them from what I understand and you can't get much cheaper from other sources. I assume it was a chinese food or Indian place as the buckets usually had soy sauce, chili powder and currey.

I waited for a nice sunny day, and poured bleach into them and hosed them out several times. I then let it sit in the sun so all the bleach evaporated out. I think they kept their smell for maybe a month after that and now pretty much no smell.
