 Well here I go........ Heres my first post here and what do you know its a question! (Hello Everyone First of All). After three three or so years of having a salt water tank I had my first battle With Ick recently. I have been keeping the tank generally empty. Unfortuatly the only survivors were a yellow Tang and a Lawnmower Blenny. They are now my only fish. Am not adding anything until like 6 weeks from now. Im still doing water changes and had a strange thing happen this weekend. I did the normal 1/3 that I always do.... checked the salt and the temp before the change... everything seems to check out fine...none of the tests were off after the change,,, But my snails are acting weird and my mushroom is not its usual self. The snails are all on the bottom of the tank... and are holding up in their shells. They are usually active and either on the rockwork or glass doing their thing.
Its a 55 gallon tank
1 Yellow tang
1 Lawnmower
snails
crabs
Live rock
One carpet Anemone ( green)
1 BTA
Green star Pollop
and thats it.........
I have T5 lights ( new about a month)
Protein skimmer running
and 2 pumps for flow
I think thats everything....... if anyone has any Idea what might be up with the snails and Mushroom I would appreciate the help........I dont wanna lose them.......
Thanks!

my snails are docile during the day and more active at night, and every now and again they seem to cluster together in a corner for the day. Check them out after the lights are out and see if they are active...

don't know what to say bout the shroom,, don't have any. I would imagine it would recover from 2whatever its doing, if everything in tank is more or less normal.
good luck

what did you treat your tank with?

My mushrooms sometimes get ticked off and shrivel if there is an alk or calcium change (like from a big water change), and they usually get back to normal in a day or so.

What type of salt are you using. Did you change salt mixes? Did you use a different source for the makeup water?

Should I change salt mixes? Is one considered the 'best' for reefs?

(i just use whatever)
