I am trying to steal a fish out of my tank. Long long story, but I had to put my girlfriends Domino Damsel in my main tank I had to I just had to leave me alone. I thought, an invention would serve well here...

And here is a whole shot...

So basically, I used my desk chair, a chain from my roomates weight bench for weight, an alligator paper clip, one of the overflow boxes for my overflow, rubberband, a shoelace and the strap from my overnight bag and a toothpick to create a quick release sort of set up: : : the idea being that when the guy goes into the overflow box to get the food I trip the quick release and the chain pulls up the overflow box above the waterlevel and traps the little bugger in there.

My roomiates think I am crazy, but little do they know... You can't catch these guys with a net amidst all that live rock. "Ok, if I give you a net, you gotta bet me 20 bucks that you get the fish." Good thing they didnt take the bet.

I guess I either watched too much MacGyver as a kid; watch too much MythBusters now, or just happened to smoke too much, well, you know. Etiher way, thought someone would appreciate this sort of thing. So far, no one wants to go into the little overflow box filled with food, But when I triumph, I will let you all know.

As i was reading the list of supplies i was totally thinking of this being an episode of Magiver. Good luck catching the little bugger. :D :D :D

I had to remove all the live rock from my 185 to capture my two Clarkiis. for an idea of how much live rock was involved look at post #8

Must be one hell of a huge Domino if the rope is tied to the overflow then to the chair with 5 gallons of water holding the chair down. I got a kink in my neck when I tried to figure out the fish trap sideways.............flavescens.........jk

I was starting to get nervous abou this thing, so I lowered it into the tank and kept waiting. A sign of hope: the algae blenny showed interest: you can see him just sitting there on the outside of the overflow box/.

and then he went in!!!! so just to see if this crazy contraption works, I pulled the strap from my overnight bag, broke the toothpick and the chain pulled the overflow box up trapping the little bugger!!!!!

People please! Rube aint got nothin on this contraption! Well, I have put it back in this morning, and instead of feeding them like regular I put the food in the box and have had the Algae Blenny and my Coral Beauty go in there for some grub. I am so strangely proud of myself...
