Are you sure it is the right stuff? seems like they might be phasing it out. I bet 50 bags would go quick.

Doug - I would love to get some bags. Not sure how many I will need for my new tank - it will be about 300g with a 2" sand bed. Does anyone have any idea how much I'll need??

OMG - I need A LOT! According to the calc about 300 lbs! How much is in each bag? How much does each bag cost?

the bags are 40 or 50 lbs and they cost about $5. i'm not going to know the final price until later this week.

I'd be in for 10 bags Doug.
Also, I could pick-up in Littleton and hold a bunch of bags at my house in Canton for any other interested "Southerners" :)

I talked to the agway in Salem. the guy was nice and helpfull and tried to order more and stock through winter, but after calling several weeks ina row and them not getting it in he said that the product was discontinued and they could not get it. I left my info in thier books to contact me if it ever came in and I haven't heard from them. I'll post if I do find out they have it stocked. I'm hoping this group buy works out.

every single winter they say the same thing about it being discontinued, yet every spring it shows up again. strange.

Got to keep the market hot, I guess. Kind of like how Wendy's keeps releasing the spicy chicken sandwich for a limited time, then yanking it away for a few months, before releasing it again. (DAMN those financial GENIUSES at Wendy's!)

It's not south down anymore they changed to Yard Right (http://www.yardright.com/sand.htm)

Cool! Does the new package still say "Not suitable for aquarium"? :D
mattn007

It was the Yard Right Tropical Play sand that I had asked the Agway in Salem for and was told they couldn't get it because it was discontinued. Maybe it just isn't produced in the winter?

I was holding back on posting here because it looked like you guys would be set.
Now that this deal looks dead I'll chime in to say that I have a deal in the works to bring in a truck load (~1000 bags), I was going to hold it for my installs and in store use but....Depending on the interest I could free some up for this.
