Reefers,

I have been researching powerheads and have found the tunze's are what I need to produce the flow I want, after contacting a few online vendors I spoke w/one who is willing to do discounts on a moderate size order. Details are still unclear, I just need to get a feel for what the interest would be. As of now it looks like all sizes are available. To get an idea of what retail is and product specs check out the link below. We should expect to get a 10% or higher discount off of retail...thats what I know so far. The more we buy of course the better the price and shipping is minimal b/c its devided among all the orders.

http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_powerheads_pumps_tunze_turbelle_stream_ki t.asp?CartId=

These produce awesome flow, just look at the specs.

let me know if you are interested and I will try to set it up...
BRS SPONCERS AND LFS's ; feel free to jump in as well and state your prices.

ask questions on here so everyone can benefit rather then pm please.

Thanks,

Casey

i also need 2 6100 w/multicontroller let me know what prices we are talking before counting me in i can get the 2 6100 plus multicontroller for 700.00 if it would be less than that please contact me

clamm
11-30-2004, 02:06 PM
paulp, check you prices...and click the link above cause 2 of them and the controller are below 400.00...and thats direct from marine depot, we should be able to get even cheaper and share shipping. let me know if your pricing was a typo, then check marine depot at the link about and make sure we are talking about the same type of fruit, from what you said you want the same as greg which is part number TZTS12
that pt # has 2 6100's and a 2 prt controller. the 700.00 one on their website is 4 6100's and a 4 prt controller. Which do you need?

Let me know,

Casey

I think you might be reading the chart wrong, two and controller are 782.77. Prices are under the item, not above (unless the magnet holder is $1399.32 :) )

We're thinking about getting one of the cheeper ones maybe stay around $200 worth, but the controller looks tempting too.

clamm
11-30-2004, 02:44 PM
OH, FLIGHTY'S RIGHT...782.77 is there price. WOW I DONT THINK THEY WOULD HAVE ENOUGH IF THEY WERE THE 300 PRICE FOR 2...WE CAN STILL GET SOME GOOD DEALS. SINCE THAT SEEMS TO BE THE MOST POPULAR VERSION ILL SEE WHAT THE PRICE WILL BE...FLIGHTY EVEN IF YOU DONT WANT THAT ONE THEY WILL STILL DISCOUNT YOURS AS WELL.

i would go with the 6000 it does like 1800 gph plus you can get the controller to turn it down. from what i also understand you can upgrade if its not enough by switching the impelar thingy i probally didn't spell that right ah well you can also contact tunze for there recomedations as well

Question: How strong is the flow for Tunze Turbelle ? Stream 6060? Can i have sps frag 5-6" away from it? Will it be too strong for it? What's the safe distance after Tunze Turbelle ? Stream 6060 that i can have sps frags/colonies?

It would prob strip the flesh off the coral and kill it. Even tho it is a gentler flow, there is still 1600gph coming out of it. I run one and the closest sps (or any coral) in front of it is about 12". The polyps are usually closed most of the time on this piece also.

Cindy, just curious, is that 1200gph after you account for head loss and friction loss from the basement? or the unrestricted rating of your return pump?

~Flighty~
12-01-2004, 09:46 AM
That is the actual flow. We found it by counting how long it takes the tank to fill two inches (10 gallons) and then figuring out how many times per hour that would happen.

Marco,

If you are following this thread I am still in for two of the largest streams available (is that the 6100?, these are for my 460 Gallon) and a controller that will make the two of them go. While I'm at it, and since I know you carry the XM bulbs, I could also use a 175W 10K XM mogul bulb, and a pair of 250 W 10 K XM mogul bulbs. If you can get the whole mess in before Xmas that would be great. I have some vacation (finally!) to take around Xmas and have been meaning to get down to your store.

How is the availability of the magnetic holders?

Unless you have a Eurobraced tank, you may want to order these as the mounting kits for these don't work well plastic topped tanks.

I saw your thread flighty, im as new as you if not more so to saltwater so I dont want to tell you wrong. As of now we are shooting to order in 1-2wks...so there is still time... you can try putting a small amount of alk buffer or kalk and and watch is circulate to get an idea of where your dead areas are, but you probably already know that. Make sure you dont use much...other then that for flow, i have never got a good definition of what is needed. From the descripion of these that we are doing the buy for it looks like they really dont leave much dead stops, but are very powerful at the head. It looked like on could easily to a 75 gal. 120+ you probably should keep asking...does anyone own these? can you help us out...

Groove

I'm confused as to what I have.

I thought I remembered buying a 6000 as it was going in my 120 tank. I looked in my tank tonight and the casing for it reads 6100.10 (2500-12,000 liter/hour). That might explain the sand storm a little. :) I just found my sales slip and it reads Tunze 6000?

If anyone owns a 6000, can you look at the casing and tell me what it reads?

Thanks

Marc listed his intention by wanting to sponsor this group buy. He is a sponsor and is eligible to under the rules of the BRS Marketplace in this forum. IMO he has first refusal before anyone decides to utilize marine depot or other LFS's. In the event anyone wants to discuss or go any other route they should do so in the reef talk forum. my two cents.

I am not to sure posting prices is the way to go on this public forum. How to handle otherwise, conveinently I'm not sure at the moment.

Marc has been very good thus far so im sure if he can get us the same price or better he will.

6000 and the 6100 have the same body its the transformer that is different

nice part of that is if you buy the 6000 and its not enough you can purchase the transformer to make it a 6100 and in the end cost about the same if you just bought the 6100

Tunze kits will be on hold and prices are going up due to the release of the new aquacontroller. think the new controller is about 50 dollars more but offers more options

Could you all help out please and edit this list as appropriate? I'm not looking for commitment yet but only interest on which I can base prices. Correction...I don't really know what the TS-24 is. If it is a pair of 6200's (the largest ones I believe) and a controller to make them go, then that is what I am looking for.

some great prices Marc!!!!!!! Whats a small single go for, I might be in...

TS-07 1 X 6000 W/ controler $295.00 $255.00

I am new to these as anyone, whats the the advantage of having a controller... and will 1 6000 be enough for a 75G tank?

Scuba_Dave
01-02-2005, 10:04 PM
Advantage of a controller, has a food switch - temp off, night sensor - switches to low volume, can vary the speed from low to high or anywhere in between
gives you better control of flow & makes for better variety of flow

First of all the bad news is nobody can have the 7094 controls as they have been made obsolete. The good news is they have been replaced by the newer leaner meaner 7095 the even better news is:
Because it was my mistake. I'll eat the up charge.

I'd also like to offer an incentive/ goal
Get this GB up to $5K total sales and I will Issue a LiveStock coupon for 5% of each sale at the time of delivery.

marco67
01-05-2005, 10:52 AM
Tunze (Europe) shuts down for the holidays so basically nothing ships in December. Right now it's not so much a back order issue as a "get it in and get it out" At Tunze USA issue. I'm speaking with Roger (owner of Tunze USA) a couple of times a week now. He assures me that although not all products are in stock he has product coming in almost every day. He will ship everything he can as soon as the order goes in and the rest ASAP.
I think the trick here is to get the order in ASAP.

I was thinking exactly the same thing....Hubby bought off on this, but only if I went that route. He wants to get a bigger tank in the not so distant future and doesn't want to have to upgrade a controller then. Right now we have a 75 so the 6000 would be good.

Is there a price for this, or would it be a la carte pricing: the 6000 + the 7095 controller + the cost of the magnet holder thing. (would I need a 1/2 inch for that?)

Also, is this going to be a Cape pick-up? 4 hour drive  Gonna have to block in some time for this.

Thanks

Yes that?s how it works, even the "kits" are only that in name for ordering convenience not packaging and pricing.

Also, is this going to be a Cape pick-up? 4 hour drive Gonna have to block in some time for this.

As much as I'd like to have you all to come down, I do realize that it a haul for some. I will be flexible on the pick up. Maybe I'll finally take a Saturday off and attend a meeting?

Maybe we could arrange a roadtrip for some of the NH folks. I know I've talked to a few NH people (not nessescarily on this buy) who want to get some dry rock too. I want to get down to the store, but with a newborn, thats lots of stops for feeding and diaper changes.

Newborns are great for roadtrips!! They sleep all the time! We travelled more in the four weeks after Lily was born than we have in any subsequent month.

marco67
01-10-2005, 10:19 AM
The Magnet is not needed with the rock. The standard mounting is with a bracket that hangs from the tank rim, extentions are available if you want to go deeper than the supplied ~4". The magnet gives you the advantage of being able to put the pump at any depth and at any angle. The rock offers a way to hide it and/or position it away from the glass.
