My toadstool was like my healthiest thing in my tank. It even had 4 mini toadstools growing from around its trunk. Last night I noticed that it seemed to be tearing away from its base, this morning it was hanging almost ready to drop to the floor of the tank. It basicly looks ripped....
any ideas....its all torn and jagged looking where it broke. I dont think I have anything that would do this in my tank.
The last thing I did was a water change on sunday of about 25%.
Everything else looks great.
Thanks in advance.

Sometimes toadstools do this as a form (purposeful or not) of fragmentation. If you continue to see regression that does not stop after a few days, you may need to cut any unhealthy tissue away with a sharp blade, and make sure the coral stays in a high water flow area.

Mine did this after 2 years and this thing was huge. I ended up with about 10 pieces that fell off and a very ugly toadstool.

Yeah I am going to have to cut it today, its hanging on by a thread it seems. I think i will carve off all of the little buds and rubber band those onto a rock. I will try to get rid of the dead tissue.
Thanks

If you use a rubber band, make sure it's pretty loose. The tissue under a rubber band will often become necrotic.

It isnt too tight. I will try to find something to use tomorrow. I think Im out of glue and reef putty or whatever its called.
