View Full Version : Lumen Bright reflector
any opinions on these I read a 12 page thread on reef central seems like they are better than the lomenarc but people have different opinions

they look like theyd kick some serious arse. the geometric dome shape makes me think it would do a great job forcing the light into the tank.
how much cheaper are these compared to lumenarcs?
just about the same price

seems to me they would lack some form of coverage......best explained as pounding a square peg into a round hole..........but backwards. tanks are square/rectangular for the most part.....looks like it would do a hex justice......I personally chose lumenarc because they can stand the abuse, sanjay reported using his for 6 years no glass with his full size Se's the salt has had little effect on the reflector material they use......
seems like what i have read they are saying the lumenbright gives depper and more of a wide spread penetration. There was a beautiful tank of the month from acroporanut that uses them.

Just out of curiosity is there a bench test of these results, or heresay? I'd be very curious how it performs on sanjay's testbed.
The other minor detail that make's me suspect of performance is 95% reflectivity. Lumenarc is 99%.......reef optix is 95% and has the deepest penetration or rather hotspot directly under the bulb, it pans off rather drasticly as you move out of the bulbs path......
I would believe deeper but not widespread, there's always a tradeoff......lumenarc gives very evenly widespread distribtion, it lacks the high concentraion or deeper penetration at the bulb however........
