What are you running for a return pump? Looks nice! Only issue you may have is on
the drain line at the T. You may have a time getting the water to make that turn for
you, a Y may be better. I put a tee in my drain for water changes....I ended up capping it.

the T at the top on the return you mean? I'm gonna replace that with a Y as soon as I Can find one.
The drain line just comes straight down essentially.
Its a 20L, I'm using a mag 5 for the sump return, and have a mag 3 thats going to be used for a closed loop
should be about 600gph circ total.
The T with the 2 valves is in the return line, and is supposed to be for water changes.

The third pic. If that is a return, then...nevermind ;).

Yeah, on the right in the third is a return. I'm gonna hook the pump up to the bottom (havent cut the pipe piece because I dont know how long its gonna neeed to be) On the left valve is a 1/2" male out. I figure I can hook a garden hose or something up to it to take water out of hte tank, just switch the valves and my pump is pumping water out of the tank.

Nice plan. Have you used this type of plumbing set up at the top of the display before?
I am interested in how even the water flow is out of the inlets. I would also like to see some pics with it running.
Thanks,
Eric

i havent tried it before. if theres no flow out the front, I'll just spin the Ts so they face slightly up and put 45' elbows on them to make em go down
that should make the flow go more towards the front. If I can't get it to work...then hey, its just pvc. I'd probably take out hte back outlets, and put a hang on closed loop, and just use hte front outlets.
When I actually get it all up and running, I'll post more pics.

Now I just need to get my light to actually come, and buy some sand, and real live rock, and I'll be rockin.
Also, the large section in the left front of the sump will be the fuge, and the section to the right of the return is where my nano DIY skimmer is going to go.

Looks great! One question: on the "sump left side" pic, can you explain a bit the reason behind the "waterfall"? I've never seen a sump with that kind of flow, am curious.

Okay, the compartment where the drain line comes in (with the heater) overflows into both the skimmer compartment, and the fuge. This is to lower the flow to the fuge. The tank is a 10g, and 12" high if I remember. The drain compartment is about 11 inches.
The skimmer section is 9.5, and the fuge is about 7.5
The drain section drains into both, and then both drain back into that third compartment at the top( about 6.5"tall), which is where the baffles start for the bubble catcher, and into the return.
Probably not being very clear. Ask more questions if I didnt explain well enough.
Essentially Ive got it set up so it makes no noise, and of the 300gph moving through the sump, probably only about 100 goes through the fuge.

I havent put the skimmer in its compartment yet....so if anyone is confused by me mentioning "the skimmer section" thats why.

Makes sense now, thanks for the clarification!
