Here are some photos of the stand I made for my 40breeder. I still have to fill in some spots with some wood filling and sand it down before staining it. The front panel is removable, I have some velcro but it isn't necessary now.

Nice job on your stand Dedfish. I just hope you have better luck with that setup than some of your other ventures .....

Wow that looks very nice. If you don't mind me asking, how much did it come to total, and how long did it take you?

hmmm..never kept a running total. I actually don't like to think about how much money it is costing since 1/2 the fun for me making it. I need an excuse to use some power tools. I'd say it's gonna cost me near $115 when all is said and done. Maybe a bit more. I could have done it cheaper, but I choose to use better plywood this time arround. I think it really makes a difference. The birch plywood cost arround $70 total for the 2 4x8 pieces I bought.

It didn't take long at all to build. The frame took 1 night and then I procrastinated for a few days and finally took another night to wrap it in plywood and then a few more hours to put the trim on. It could easily be done in an afternoon if you really worked on it. My idea of an hour of working on it was more like spend 15 mins actually working and the other 45 mins playing computer games and watching TV. :D

Looks great! Good amount of space below for such a small stand.

One question, is that back plywood attached to the studs? The reason I ask is that I would worry about stability if it wasn't. In that stand much of the strength will come from the plywood panels on the side and back.

How did the staining go?

Nate haven't even started staining yet. If you get a chance check out my finishing thread, I have a few questions. The sides and back are screwed to the frame. It is extremely stable.

Thanks!

I'm sure it's super strong. I think folks often don't realize how vital the plywood skin is for making a simple stand stay upright.

I saw your finishing thread after I replied here. I'm afraid I went a little overboard with my staining/finishing answers though. Forgive me if it's super boring.
