View Full Version : sump fuge idea

ok heres what im thinking. i have a 75gal tank under my 125gal. my thaught is to take a spear 30gal tank i have and put it inside as the fuge feed it with a powerhead and let it overflow back into the 75gal right over the top does anyone see a problem with doing somthing like this?

thats good but what im talkng about is using a 30gal inside a 75 instead of using baffels.feed the fuge. it would then overflow the top and fall back into the sump heres a pic

I don't see why not. You might want to tilt the 30g a little so the fuge only overflows on one side, away from your return pump. I'd put eggcrate at the top of that end too to keep the chaeto in the fuge.

I've seen people use something as simple as a plastic trash barrel...
I was going to use a 5 gallon fish tank on top of my 20 gallon sump, with just a hole drilled in the bottom and a stand pipe. It was juust a little too tight to fight it all in (with a light).

how about running your return line into the fuge or splitting the return line so you dont have to run another pump
