Does anyone know where you can obtain the foam block you so often see used by manufacturers in overflows and on pump inlets. I have tried adapting foam block from other sources, but with no such luck. I am going to need my own, and carve it into a cylinder with a 1"-dia. hole through the center to use on the inlet to a 1" suction line.

That yellowish porus stuff? I have no idea.

Could you use that plastic craft mesh and make a cage thing to go over the pipe? I think it is easier to clean anyway.

I used one from a mag and made it fit over a 1" bulkhead strainer. I used it on the intake on my 20L. I can try and find the other half of the foam if you think it will work for you.
