Red slime remover

I had some signs of some red slime algae about a week ago so I treated it with some Red slime remover. This weekend I did a 10gal water change. My question is when am I going to be able to turn my skimmer back on. Even with the gate all the way open it produces way to many bubbles.

I ran my skimmer wide open the whole time and i just kept emptying my collection cup. Eventually it started acting normal.

Adding some activated carbon might also help.
