View Full Version : McReef Holiday Gathering
Dave McReeferson

Well, the tank is nearly done, and the holidays are upon us, so Gina and I have decided we would have a little get together at the McReef. We were thinking pot-luck would be the way to go, so bring something tasty to share and we can all have a bite and shoot the breeze. Our schedule has been pretty tight, but we do have the Saturday immediately following Christmas open (the 27th), so we figured we would try and do it then, let's say 6PM.
Post here if you are thinking you can make it and what you might be bringing so we don't end up with 12 spinach dips and 3 apple pies. ;)
It will also be BYOB if you want to have a cocktail or two.
Hope to see you there/here. :)
Once the day gets closer we will PM those who have expressed interest with the address.

Ya no kidding ::
My friends mom is really sick and they were planning for next Sept. but they want to make sure she was around to see him get married so they moved it up to the next asap date. Actually works out for us cause the wedding is in Nancy's hometown(Sturbridge) and we are turning it into Christmas/Wedding weekend, and the in-laws will watch the kids and such :)

Awe, that sounds nice. Too bad about your friend's mom.:( My cousin's wedding was this past Sept....her husband's dad had a heart attack the day after the wedding. Thankfully it was mild and he is ok now, they were on their honeymoon when it happened.

Gina and I are not the early to bed type, so it really depends on our guests I think.

Hi Gina and Dave,
I think I could be lured out for your gathering. It's been a hard year or so for my tank, and I need some inspiration! Sounds like a few reefers chatting and eating could do the trick. Thanks!

I wish we could make it. My in-laws and the whole family were supposed to come over today for a family Christmas party. But with parking issues due to the weather it was pushed to next Saturday. I may be able to come by without Michelle and the kids, but it'd have to be well after 8 p.m when the kids are asleep. :(
Can you guys leave the door unlocked and the spread out and I'll be by anywhere between 11-1 a.m.? ;) I'll clean-out, I mean CLEAN-UP :D, before I leave.

Whatever you like, Diane.:) I haven't decided what I'll be making yet, I'll wait and see what others are bringing first. I'll likely make a mexican layer dip, and some other stuff as well.

I had today off and it was kinda nice minus all the driving and going to two different places for Xmas, but better than working
On a side note Kim and I figured out what we can bring... we plan on bringing some shrimp cocktail unless the price of shrimp has skyrocketed during this "recession" lol:p

I first found the BRS by reading the McReerson's build. Just finished working (4) 17 hour days, so it would be nice to just sit and see and the build that made me join the "family" group.
I'm probably gonna make vietnamese spring rolls. If any one is allergic to or has an objection to pork, let me know and I'll add another item to the menu.

Awe man. Now I really have to go. How am I going to manage this? I've got to go to Scituate and Marshfield in the morning. Then we've got this family Christmas party (post-poned to this Saturday) and now this. What am I to do? Maybe I'll pop a few No-Doze in the kids and Michelle and haul them on over after the party. :D
Better yet, I'll get some moreo of that 5 Hour Energy drink. I just discovered it a few days ago. The stuff really works with no crash-type side effects.

Really? Does it make you jittery and nervous though? I can't have too much caffeine for that reason, it gives me anxiety. Same with those Red Bull drinks, Rock Star, etc, can't have any of that stuff.

It works really well with virtually no side effects. I tried No Doze and Vivarin in college. Not good, very jittery and had to keep pacing and walking circles while studying. :D Red Bull is ok, but doesn't do much for me. AMP kills me after 2-4 hours. It gives me a sudden boost but then I can hardly keep my eyes open. Starbucks Double Shot works well, tastes good and it's nowhere near as sweet as their Mochachino drinks. So far I like the sugar free 5 Hour because it works the best.
