The McReeferson reefer gathering is tomorrow, Saturday, the 27th, from 6ish until whenever. :)
David will be home all day and will be checking the threads, so if you decide last minute that you would like to come, post here (or in the other thread) and he'll PM you the address. We will also check it throughout the evening.:)
Remember this is a potluck party, and if you know what you are bringing, please post it here so we don't end up with 12 spinach dips and 3 apple pies. ;)
Here is what people are bringing so far...
Gina - mexican layer dip and chips
Gina - dirt pie (frozen dessert)
David (McR.) - taco salad
Diane - salami cheese rollups
Anthony - vietnamese spring rolls
Dave and Kim - (possibly) shrimp cocktail
Heather - cookies or homemade fudge
It will also be BYOB if you want to have a cocktail or two.
Hope to see you here! ;)
Here is our original thread on the gathering....http://bostonreefers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=72884

So far it's looking like we're going. But Michelle is worried about the kids. She's always concerned that we're going to look like bad parents if we keep them up and out past 8 p.m. Plus she's afraid the kids will have a meltdown if they're too tired. I'm banking on the tank from preventing that. ;) If anything I'll be coming by. I'm bringing teriyaki steak tips. Would 5 lbs. of tips be enough you think?

Dave and Kim - peppermint bark
I'll try not to eat all the peppermint bark on the way there but no promises... Just want to thank Kim for getting the shrimp and making he bark while I'm stuck at work... She def deserves the "wife of the year" she has under her avatar
I'll be counting down the minutes to get out of work!!!
we will be bringing a vat of curry:)

Paul, I understand Michelle's worry. Hopefully they power nap in the car coming up from the south shore. It'll be a nice long ride. :) I'd bring our two if we didn't have such a long drive. You will not look like bad parents, and they probably will be so overwhelmed with new people and things (like a fish tank because they don't have one with water at home :p), meltdowns will be held off until you get in the car to go home.

Might be enough for me... but what would everyone else eat? ::
On a side note... 5 1/2 hours till I'm out of work!!! WHOOOOOOO-HOOOOOO!!!
Can anyone tell I'm excited for tonight?

That's what I'm thinking too. Genevieve and especially Thomas are both enthralled by aquariums. Thomas freaks, in a good way, anytime we fill his tub. They both love water, which is a relief.
Yeah, yeah. Someday they'll have a tank at home of their own. :D
Ahh, the joys of parenthood.
That sounds great Paul, and tasty too!
How would you know? :p Speaking of which, aren't you due for a little one?
I'm actually bringing 8 lbs. of tips. I hope they're ok. They're only getting to marinate for ~ 15 hours.
Ouch... a low, yet hilarious, blow...
Might be enough for me... but what would everyone else eat?
I'm good for those low blows it seems.
You and I will split them. While I love vegetables, I'm definitely a meat n' ba-dAy-das guy. Tell ya what, meet me out front and we'll divvy them up before we make it to the front door.
Doesn't look like we will be able to make it, sorry guys, thank you for the invite
Bummer Shawn. I was hoping to meet you. Liam had such wonderful things to say about you.

Thanks guys. I'm glad you liked the tips. I wish we had gotten there earlier for some of you to eat them. :( We left at 2 a.m. and there was probably 60% of it left. I hope Dave liked them enough to eat them all. :D
Susy, and anyone else for that matter, if you'd like some sauce, I'll be sure to bring some if/when I make it to another event or my first club meeting. Just PM me and I'll make a list.
Thanks again to Gina and Dave for hosting a great time and for having us. We had a ton-O-fun, the kids absolutely LOVED the tank (as did I) and it was great to meet the other BRS'ers there too. And thanks for taking it easy on me people. :D

Thank you Diane and Gary, it was so great to meet you both as well, I'm so glad you were able to come! I love those salami rollups, and the spinach quiche was excellent as well, I'm a veggie girl. ;)
I'm glad Gary had fun as well, see, it's not all fish talk at a reefer party!
Definitely had a great time. Nothing beats having good company, a great spread, and an awesome tank.
Thanks Dave and Gina for having me over.
Thank you for coming...those spring rolls were yummy! I think there were two left at the end of the night, I ate them with that delicious sauce Paul brought over for the tips, the combination of those two was nothing short of dynomite! ;)

Sorry you missed the tips, I'm not a steak eater but people were raving about them, David raved about them today. I've been raving about that sauce, man, yummy.

LOL, too funny! I've never heard so much creativity as far as nori is concerned! :p
Nah, not much of a mess, I love having company over, I don't mind a few dishes, etc. That's what the dishwasher is for. I certainly don't mind a few tasty leftovers! ;) Now our old place, we didn't have a dishwasher, that wasn't much fun.

She is such a little doll, so is Thomas, they are such well behaved children! You guys are doing something right, that's for sure. I might be PM'ing you for pointers someday. ;)
I love that sauce! I don't eat steak, so I hadn't tried the sauce until you guys left...we were cleaning up and I couldn't resist Anthony's last two egg rolls and it occurred to me to pair it with the sauce, OMG, soooo yummy! David loves you for bringing those tips over, like you, he's a meat guy.
I'm glad you guys were able to make it, it was so nice meeting Michelle as well, she's a sweetheart, I love the toffee cookies, I had a few today :o...man, I really need to hit the gym tomorrow, time to get back to the regular routine.
Everyone brought over so many tasty things, it was awesome, thank you! I hope you all liked the "Christmas" punch. ;)

Thank you for coming...those spring rolls were yummy! I think there were two left at the end of the night, I ate them with that delicious sauce Paul brought over for the tips, the combination of those two was nothing short of dynomite!
Damn! I left the sauce there? :p Did Dave make a conscious decision to keep the sauce before mentioning that I had left the tongs behind? I'm kidding. ;)
Yeah those rolls were killer. I ate one, ok two. :o I was eyeing those last two in the dish before leaving. They were much better than any roll I had ever had in a restaurant. Everything was great! Genevieve especially loved the cold cut/cheese/pickle roll-ups.
It was great to see you guys as well, as always. I can't tell you how excited David was today to eat some tips, it was like someone had left a pile of cash here and said, keep it, it's for you.
Are you pulling my leg? He couldn't have been that excited. I mean c'mon. Tips as good as cash? LOL. I'm really glad Dave liked the tips. Not sure how they re-heat though. I know that was alot of meat to leave behind. I figured someone would eat it. As we were getting into the car, Michelle said "you know, Gina doesn't really eat meat. That's a lotta beef for one man to eat." I told her not to worry, Dave's got long legs to store them in if his stomach runs out of room. :D
She is such a little doll, so is Thomas, they are such well behaved children! You guys are doing something right, that's for sure. I might be PM'ing you for pointers someday.
No problem. Anytime. BTW, apologize to Dave for me. I was razzing him a little about kids when I should've gotten his back instead. That was REALLY wrong of me. It won't happen again. I did however mention that kids would be excellent leverage for his 8' x 8' tank idea. I hope I redeemed myself a little with that one.

Eh, it's the holidays. Nothing wrong with a little moderation, especially with moderation. I take it a little too far though. LOL. Yeah, Michelle said that she enjoyed chatting with you. She was afraid she'd have nothing to talk about since it was a "Reefer's" Christmas party. Well then, I suppose I should've been concrened too since I'm not officially a Reefer... yet. HeHe.

You should have had those last couple! Believe me, I did not need to eat anymore spring rolls, I had plenty of everything. Then you could have tried it with your sauce! ::
I had salami rollups for lunch today, yum.

True, I'm not much of a meat eater, I'll have deli meats here and there and I enjoy ground up hamburger once in a while (as in tacos, taco salad, or shepherd's pie, sloppy joe's), but I don't eat a steak, chicken breast, lambchops, or anything else that actually looks like it might have come from an animal.....like a piece in a puzzle. http://www.clipartof.com/images/emoticons/xsmall2/2202_puking.gif
David is on the other hand, well that's a completely different story.

Like I said to Diane above, there's always some "normal" chatting going on when reefers get together, sure there's a lot of reef talk, but most of us like to converse about other stuff as well. ;)
ditto what everyone else said, and the punch was excellent.
I love that curry Liam, it's so good! I take the sauce and the veggies and try to leave the chicken pieces (again with the meat thing) and it's so yummy, nice and spicy.;)

Again, I'm really glad you like the tips Dave. :) Did you drizzle more sauce on them? You can also marinate chicken, etc. in the sauce. I like to do that for 18-24 hours before grilling.
Well, if I hit Mega Millions and walk away with a sizable lump sum, Dave can have an 8' x 8', on me. :D
Awe man, the curry. I wish I got to try some of that. I don't remember no punch neider. :( Was the punch spiked? If so, that would explain the look on Liam's face. That or he was happy and tired. :p
