View Full Version : Group buy from Clams Direct for June 12 Meeting

ScottM

10% off clams
heres the how to:
From San Diego to you in our large container that will hold up to 12 small lams (3" each) would be approx. $75.00 with the discount that we receive from FedEx. Your people could order their clams without the shipping container and in the remarks section indicate this is a group order for BRS and when you order your clams indicate the large shipping container as that will calculate your shipping cost and indicate phone order on check out. Then I will get back to you with the entire total for all clams minus your 10% Discount, container and shipping and get your CC at that time. This link will also help you out.

http://clamsdirect.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=600

It is best to register for our news letter as I send one out when we know what day the clams will be posted on the server and let me warn you that they normally go fast so the link above will help you with the process and explain how our shopping cart works. http://clamsdirect.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=723 Truly a WYSIWYG shopping cart.

Hope this helps.

When will they be shipped and to where? Is this for the next BRS meeting?
Also how will shipping be calculated for each person?

I have a flatworm problem (not major) that I wish to take care of 1st, and won't be at the June meeting

So if I understand this correctly, Barry from ClamsDirect will contact us via his newsletter (which we should have subscribed to) when the clams are available for us. Then we all rush to the site and buy them? I guess I am a little hazy on when the group buy is open to us. If Barry were to specify a time frame, it might help those of us who might be away from a computer,

this just emailed from barry:

We will be doing some maintence this coming week so we might be down for a while but we will be back up as soon as we can.

We have new Maximas from Pohnpei and Cultured Maximas in quarantine, so we will be posting them to the server when we come back online

During the move, if you can not reach us with barry@clamsdirect.com then our alternate email address is vett631@cox.net

we will ship it to someone, maybe you just put you name up :D for a sat am del on the 12th (the day of the meeting)

i figure shipping would be 6.25 per clam ordered (assuming 12 clams get ordered)

matt,
we can pick any clam we want at anytime. the newsletter is just to tell us that new clams are going up on the site. yes its a free-for-all, but not alot of people seem to be interested....

I have ordered from Clamsdirect before and Barry's service is unmatched. He even sends thank you cards out a week later. I can help you guys out if this goes through. When I ordered mine I did the FedEx pick/up which guaranteed their health per Barry's guidelines. I work on Saturday mornings in Woburn so I had the clams shipped to the Burlington FedEx. I was at the facility when my clams arrived a little before 11:00 am. and they took less than 14hrs to get here. I can do the same for this group buy and bring them to the meeting for yous. It isn't an inconvienance but I figured I would offer. I will not be purchasing any clams but if someone had a chunk of chaeto for me that would great. Just let me know what you decide.

I can hold on to them for you. I have 2x250W DE HQI 10k bulbs and proper calcium and alkalinity, so they should be fine, plus I have a red mite and flatworm free main tank,

heres what barry sent me:

I was unaware of this but he also asks that we wait until he posts the new shipment so he won't have to hold them so long (he would like to hold them 3 days or less) so i am guessing that we should place our orders on WED. and set up for shipment on Fri to del sat.
please remember that i will pay for them ( or anyone else that wants to offer up a CC) and collect the money at the meeting.

Hi Scott,

Received 2 orders today for the club from David Perry and Matthew Litman. (3 clams) . They also provided me with their CC and I thought that ones person was going to pay for them all and then collect from everyone.

With us moving our server host next week, we really do not know what day we will be posting the clams that are in quarantine as we could be down for a few days.

Whoops...did I screw up? I saw a couple maxis that I couldn't pass up. I DID pay with my CC because I'm going out of town. Matt is going to pick up for me at the meeting. Please let Barry know I'm sorry if I messed up his process.

barry says it looks to be thursday the new stock will go up.

heres his email:
Hopefully we will be back online tomorrow (Wednesday) and will open the store on Thursday. If for some reason you can not access the site it is because it has not hit your area yet but hope this will not be the case. We have lots of new stock that is coming out of quarantine so you should have a good selection. We have had some question regarding the use and how the shopping cart works and hopefully this will clear it up. http://clamsdirect.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=723 The Staff www.clamsdirect.com

if you wish to place an order,
order the clams without the shipping container and in the remarks section indicate this is a group order for BRS. please do not enter a CC #.

Barry will will get back to me with the entire total for all clams minus our 10% Discount, container and shipping and get a CC at that time.

shipping is caculated at 12 clams = 75.00 = 6.25 per clam

do we even have 12 people interested in clams?

JustDavidP

how many people are still interested in this buy?
if we don't have 10 clams..... we don't have a discount.

well I wont be going ot the meeting but I would be interested in a clam if I can get it ordered in time, I am sure I can get someone to pick it up for me. But it looks like it might be a mess anyway, I will let you know if I get in on it.

Thanks Scott

Tough to say without knowing the prices or the clams. Says the site will be back up today.. Which does not leave much time to order for this weekend.

due to the site being down for server maint. i think we should postpone this group buy. i will post another thread on a clams direct order. to see how much interest there really is:

so far i only count 4 people interested. Newreefer03, Scubadave, HeavyDC2, Dubge, and maybe stangs8. unmless you want to buy 10 amongst yourselves, we'll need more people.

Matt L.
06-11-2004, 01:37 PM

I agree with Scott, this has been a mess. I still want a clam, but I didn't get to order one, with the site being down and being in the woods all day today. Oh well if everyone who ordered clams already can wait, maybe we can set something up for later.

ScottM

outstanding and on hold is:

Davis Perry 2 clams
Matthew Litman 1 clam
Dennis Lin 1 clam

please select a clam from the site and respond with clam QTY

Scott, I could go either way with cancelling the order or going ahead, though I would have preferred to get the discount and a break on shipping. I hope Barry understands if we cancel. Also if the order does go through where would it be shipped since pickup was supposed to be at the meeting? Also David P was not going to be around and I'm not sure when Matt is coming back.

Just wanted to pop in and Thank all of you for the order. Sorry thing didn't go as smoothly as expected. :o . Hope all our babies are doing well in their new homes. ;) and that are customer server was up to par as we do try very hard to provide a good product as well as CS.

In the future, to make things a little easier for the one that start the group order, let one person pay the entire bill and that person can collect from each person upon delivery. This also saves us from running a butch of CC. :) Shop for your clams without the shipping container and indicate "Phone Order" and in remarks area indicate the club name and we will mark all the bags with names and clam ID#.

Thanks again for your business and hopefully we can do this again. Looking forward to meeting some of you at MACNA.

Best Regards,

Barry
