So my last tank I ran an internal skimmer and return. This time both are external. I am looking for a smaller sump now to use as a fuge.

Anybody have pics of an external pumps plumbed to a sump & fuge so I get an idea of how this is going to work under my stand?

Thank God I have somebody from BRS helping me plumb this!

Here is how I had my 125 set up. As I said in my pm, you could do something similar and just eliminate the space on the left where the calcium reactor is. My PM skimmer is in the chamber on the right, fuge in the chamber on the left, and return pump intake is in the center.

Thanks Mike, definitely gives me an idea. Like I said, if I didn't have somebody that offered to help with plumbing I would be posting a "please help me thread.":D

I should have a little room to work with where I do not plan to run a reactor, but would like to leave the option open as I know how this hobby can be.

I am going to look around for the size recommendation you gave me, or at least a 20L to a 30.

I like how you have the return and skimmer plumbed in so you save room.

If you want to leave some room for a possible reactor or other equipment, might be better off going with a tank that has a 30x12" footprint like a 20L or 29. Just make sure you can get the skimmer in and out to clean it. It was pretty difficult in my setup because of the height of the stand, but possible. Remember to keep in mind the height of water the skimmer needs to run in as well. Mine was on a short stand to put it in about 6" of water.

Ok, thanks. Somebody just happens to have a 20L they want to trade for mine. The sump I got is nice but just too big (30 breeder). Leroy made it.

Tom,
My setup is not an external return pump, but you could do similar and just put your return where I have my water change pump going.
