I had an upbringing of snails and am worried I can't keep them alive too much longer. I'm hoping to sell some or most of them because I don't want to just take them out (if you know what I mean), since I really don't have enough food for all of them. I have a million of them lol. Pm if your interested.

I also have some phytoplankton nano type that I'm culturing as well if anyone was interested in that but supply is limited since I'm new with it, but have space to expand. I've been dosing it for about a month to my flame scallop and red Gorgonian and they seem to be doing great. Anyway, let me know :)

How’d you end up with that many? Do they readily produce? Sounds like they could be a pest at that rate. Forgive my ignorance, still learning.

They are probably red banded Trochus I cannot tell by the pics, I’d have to see a pic in the day time. They are a highly sought after snail since they can right themselves most the time, and they spin and knock of predators. Also they are known to breed in the tank. If you have a wrasse or other predators there won’t be many babies if any.

So I think they are actually turbos. I have three huge turbos in my system, and I remember I bought a live rock that had big snail egg sacks about a year ago and I believe they hatched and have been growing ever since.

Didn’t want to say it earlier without a better pic but since they aren’t red banded Trochus those are collonista snails. You don’t have to worry about the population they will go up and down with the tank. They aren’t really sold sorry.

Oh that's so interesting! I totally thought they were turbos! Wow! Sorry for the misleading information!

Don’t apologize no one knows everything in a reef it’s impossible. I have posted things wrong myself. Fyi the other reason I didn’t think it was turbos is because of their larval stage and almost impossible to have them survive. Trochus snails are one of the only bigger snails that people buy for their reef tanks that readily breed in aquariums. There are some other snails that can breed in reef tanks successfully but mostly stomatella, limpets, and colonistas which are hitchhikers. Some other snails that can would be nassarius/whelk. Whelks are pest, and their are more I’m sure.
