And I'm back! (20H nano build)

A few new frags and an updated FTS. Sorry for the picture quality, my phone is not in the best of shape these days .

Working on my photography today, going to play around with the pro mode later on my new phone (Samsung S21+) and grab a yellow filter to help with the blue.

I picked up this Kryptonite Candy Cane from @N_E_M_O about 10 days ago and it has been thriving and displaying awesome polyp extension.

Update:

All of the live rock I plan to use is curing currently, have a couple bags of aragonite sand and bought a Sicce return pump, Eshopps skimmer, 20 gallon fuge and a GFO/Carbon dual reactor. This project may drag on for some time as I started saving up for a controller and calcium reactor. Going slow and steady with this one.

As for my 20H:

-I've added several frags over the past few weeks, all of which seem to be doing well and are starting to show growth.
-I have a pesky emerald crab that has started picking at polyps on my SPS that I need to catch
-Everything in the tank has been stable for a few months now
-I have a massive aptasia outbreak that is going to need to be handled by some nudis at this point =(

Here's my Bonsai I got months ago from Marty at European Aquatics. Started showing some STN but recovered and recently started encrusting the dead skeleton.

I got this encrusting green monti the same day and it has completely taken over one of the rocks towards the bottom of my tank.

Sonic the Hedgehog Galexea I bought off B over at NEMO, started as one large and one small polyp but has rapidly grown 10+ small polyps.

Purple Haze monti I got off Dong a few weeks ago, immediately started encrusting its frag plug in my tank

This monti started dying back when I introduced it to my tank but quickly healed up and started showing signs of growth over the dead skeleton.

The only mushroom in my tank, today I noticed it was sending out some growth so I'm hoping to start seeing a few more of these pop up in the next week or two.

My candy cane also started having one of its heads split.

RR Pink Cadillac that my damn emerald crab has been picking at. I picked this up a couple of months ago from NEMO and am just starting to notice some vertical growth, although it has been encrusting its plug quite nicely since purchased.

Overall I'm happy with how this tank is maturing. I just need to overcome this aptasia, catch this crab and slowly pick up the last few pieces for my big upgrade.

RBTA looking fine this morning

Can anyone ID this new wrasse I got yesterday? Picked him up at European Aquatics and was researching him on the spot but completely forgot the species.

I did lose several SPS and my mushrooms a couple of weeks ago, AC went out while I was away for one day and I can only imagine how hot the tank got. All the more reason to have a chiller in the 57gallon when I get that started this Fall. The corals that did survive have been THRIVING since my last post, especially the montipora colonies

The angles I need to get for pictures and the quality of the used 20H I'm using's glass have been big problems for me lately -_-

Gus wanted to say hello too (my fiancé names all of our fish)

Here is a new years update on this tank for those of you I do not regularly speak with off of the forums....

Shortly after I posted the last update, my tank crashed due to our power going out while I was away for a weekend and the AC units tripping which caused my apartment to get very hot. Needless to say, nearly all of the SPS died but I was able to save most of my LPS, all of the softies and all of the fish. I then got a wonderful job opportunity I could not pass up that required me to be in Florida for a few months but my fiancee was able to keep everything in the tank alive in my absence.

Fast forward to the end of September and flatworms had completely overrun my tank and I spent a month sucking them out as much as I could before I treated them. Unfortunately, even with water changes and running carbon, the tank completely crashed.

Everything died.

I will be moving this year so I decided to tear down the tank and added to the curing live rock I had for my planned upgrade. I have a large rubbermaid trashbin almost full of cycling live rock now and most of it has been cycling for the past 5 or so months and is full of life. I'll continue to cycle this rock until I move and will either start the 57 gallon I had previously posted about upgrading to or will be looking into a larger, rimless cube that will be my main display for the next several years until we find our forever home.

I will be making a detailed build thread about this tank when the build starts. I want to thank all of you for your continued support and can't wait to see what 2022 holds for me in this hobby.

-Eddie

PS- When I move my shallow pond tank some of you have been very interested in (which is still thriving) will become a shallow softy/lagoon tank. We (BRS BoD) have discussed making a contest for paid members regarding this idea too so stay tuned!

I'm interested in said spreadsheet. I have and use one I got from RC way back in the day and would be interested in seeing how yours compares. Email) biggiepauls (at) bostonreefers (dot) org.
Thanks,

BiGGie
Paul does zBRS still allow you to send in water and have it checked ? If so how do I do it and where do I send it? And how much does it cost? Also I was wondering if you have videos for diy projects ? I have a 3 compartment sump and where and what kind of biological media do I put in it?
