New 120g

So just added a new copperband that is eating frozen food like crazy. My purple tang didn't like it at all so I am using a mirror to distract him and it's working like a charm. So I have been watching the copperband and noticed him doing something I haven't seen a fish do in any of my tanks. Pictures will show all

The copperband goes up to the shrimp and starts shaking like clownfish do to each other and then the shrimp jumps on the copperband and goes to town. It's kinda cool

That's really cool. The little copperband makes it look like a humongous shrimp.

So I was looking at a few corals and noticed they have grown quite a bit. I'm going to focus on the few corals that made it through my tank crash back in October only because it took them a long while to recover

So I'm going to run a little experiment. Saturday I will be picking up a duel 250w de hqi fixture with 2x54w t5 lamps. I'm going to replace the radion gen 2 pros on my frag tank with the above fixture. I'm going to continue to run the radion gen 4 pros with 4x54w t5 on my display so should be a fair comparison. By no means scientific but it will deff be the desiring factor for what lighting I will run on my tank when I move it to the basement. Also both tanks are plumbed into the same sump. They both dump there water in the same section and draw water from the same section. Both tanks have a foot print of 48x24.

I will be running a couple of these bulbs with possible actinic and blue plus bulbs

Can only add 2 t5 lamps. Let's here what you guys would add for t5 bulbs. Remember I can only use two

I got 2 t5 supplement to my LEDs. Running purple plus & blue plus.

Could do coral plus & blue plus

I got 2 blue plus and 2 coral plus now with the radion's on my display. The radions are good in the actinic spectrum. I don't think the Phoenix lamps will be that blue so I might use the two actinic lamps that came with the fixture

Just read through the whole thread sorry to hear about the quasi crash.... I'd offer you some frags but mine are still really small lol...

Got this avast k2 kalk stirrer a couple months ago but wasn't in a rush to build it because a had no coral so I finally got around to building it and just hooked it up few mins ago. Seems to be doing alright

How do you like the kalk stirrer? I had the same one going in my 55 and had no issues with it...

I vote double blue plus bulbs best blend of PAR and looks for a T5... Loved those suckers!!! I've been thinking of throwing on my tank but even the 24" T5 bulbs don't really fit under the canopy...

No big deal about the coral Dave. I went out and racked up my credit card with new coral that's doing alright. Credit card will be paid off in a couple more weeks, right before the 0% apr goes away.

The avast kalk stirrer is working great. My eb8 failed on me a few weeks back and I had no room on my other eb8 for the pump for the kalk stirrer so I have just had it spinning away doing nothing and my ph seems fine. When my new eb8 comes in I'll hook it back up and if my ph swings stay the same I may just take it offline. Though I did read that the kalk adds diff trace elements then a calcium reactor so having both my be more beneficial. I don't know though

My Phoenix lamps come in today. I also got a few diff color t5 lamps and a new eb8 that should. E in today so hopefully I can get the new light hooked up and everything back to normal tonight

So I finally got around to setting up the metal halide light I got a few months back on my Frag tank. Instantly I noticed how much brighter it is even without the 2 antinics working. Corals color has faded and they all look more bland but I was expecting that till the coral gets used to the new lights. So I got two 250w Phoenix 14k de bulbs. It's too soon to notice any diff but I started out with 6 hours of light and will up it an hour every week till I get to 10 hours
