New tank set up

Corwyn

I am in Raynham
HI All.

So after being out for a couple of years I am jumping back in on a smaller scale.
Tank will be mixed tank with mostly LPS and clams

I decided to go with the Red Sea E 170.
Going with the Hydro lights and the sump

My Euro G4 skimmer will not fit into this sump as far as I can tell ( so I will be selling that if anyone is interested)

so I will need a new skimmer and looking for recommendations.
Right now I was looking at the Bubble Magus Curve A5 In Sump Protein Skimmer

a quite one return pump probably a pro 2200 that will do about 500GPH.
and Ice cap 3G gyre

Any suggestions on additions and changes?

I'm looking for latest info on test kits and testers. What is everyone using nowadays?

Welcome back!

I just got a jebao c40 which I suppose to be 4900gph for a gyre. And is adjustable flow.

For 50 bucks less might be worth it?

As for kits I think most people use a mix of kits. I don’t test that often/at all. When I did I used API.

People like the Hannah probes for phosphates. Salfeit for alkalinity and magnesium. I hope others that test regularly chime in.

Red Sea or Salifert are solid choices. Some of the Hanna checkers work well. Key word is some. (I really like the dkh reading alkalinity model)

I use the
Hanna DKH
api calcium
Red sea mag( because I have it)
Salifert for all others

Salifert for everything. Except po4, I use the hanna ulr phosphorus meter.

I check alk daily and everything else every few weeks
