ph reading issues

So I finally bit the bullet and ordered everything from Atlas Scientific to add ph monitoring to my homegrown reef controller. Everything seemed to be working fine on the bench so I calibrated it and stuck it in the tank. And the reading was 10.5. Thinking I might have a bad pump that was causing the false reading I shut everything off and it dropped to 6.95. My tank usually is in the 7.8 to 8.0 range so I knew that wasn't right either. Took a sample out of the tank and put the probe in it, 7.9.

After much googling I learned that induced voltage can cause issues so I added a titanium grounding probe. The voltage went from 50v ac to 0. There was no amperage measured by my multimeter so i don't think it's a bad pump or heater. With the grounding probe installed the reading dropped to 6.98 but if i take a sample and put the probe in it it reads 7.8.

So something is still going on but I'm at a loss at what it could be. Spent plenty of time googling it to no avail. Any ideas?
