    Default Remove PVC Sealant

    hi, does anyone know how to remove sealant in pvc fittings? both bulkheads on my overflows have pvc fittings sealed to them and i can't remove the fittings, or even budge the things. thanks everyone.

    if it's pvc cement I believe it's permanant. Don't try too hard to get them apart or you may risk cracking the tank (by twisting unevenly or otherwise putting stress on the glass).

    you may have to cut the fittings and replace the bulkheads if you want to change things around or be able to take them apart.

    if you do that, you can replace the bulkheads and fittings with threaded ones so you don't have the same problem again.

    Yup, PVC Cement is permanant. It melts the PVC (to an extent). I have chiseled and peeled old fittings off before, but usually the mated part is destroyed too.

    alright, thanks for the info. does anyone know if skiptons carries bulkhead fittings? i think i am going to have to hacksaw these babies to get them off then.
