    Default Kolorscape sand

Has anyone used the Kolorscape sand that you can get at home depot? I believe it is the new name of the old castle sand. I vinegar tested it and it fizzed about as much as ginger ale. It looks like there is quite a bit of quartz in it as well, but my plan is to make a deep sand bed and use kolorscape for the bottom layer and then cover it with 30 lbs of live aragonite sand (I have a 30gal by the way). I will also add a bunch of handfuls of additonal live sand from multiple other tanks. I was just wondering if anyone else has used the kolorscape and if they had any problems.

I'm using it. Its definitely not the same as oldcastle/southdown. Its got a much larger grain size, and definitely has some quartz in it. That being said, it works fine, and is a much better fit (than southdown) for my flowaholic notions.

Thanks everyone, I added 50lbs last night and topped with 30lbs of aragonite.

Jocko, you should get it now, most places are already out of it for the season, I had to stop at a couple HDs to find it. I know the waltham one still has a bunch.

I like the way it looks and, the price is right.
I got mine at the home depot in everett on rte. 16. I had to move a bunch of bags to finally get some that were not ripped and leaking.
