    Default Free Wood Scraps

Most of you have seen the huge barn im building. Well I have alot of cutoff pieces of wood to get rid of.. I originally thought of burning them but the fire dept in town says that burning season here isnt till Jan. and that you are not allowed to burn construction debris.. I knew you couldnt burn pressure treated and plywood but thought that pine boards and 2x4s would be fine, apparantly not..

Im keeping the larger pieces of plywood and dimensional lumber for future projects but there is aprox a pickup truck full of small cutoffs.

Can anyone use this for burning in their town?? I see piles of pallets on the street all the time labeled "free firewood" so obviously some people burn lumber.

I expect the ban on burning construction debris is directed against mixed debris from demo, etc. What you have is pure wood. It might as well be a tree, it's just been dimensioned. Don't call it construction debris, call it wood. And you should be fine burning it next month.

Not that I plan on doing it either way, but do you know if that's true for the new stuff as well as the old Arsenic type?

I don't burn any pressure treated or painted or contaminated wood. But all of the 2x scrap I have is clean & piled up to burn in the fireplace. I also have a wood stove outside for brush. As long as you are "cooking" it's within the law.
Funny, I always seem to burn the popcorn.....
Maybe leaving it on the stove for 4-6 hours is the problem?
