RODI upgrade!

I upgraded my RODI system today for some reason and it's probably way overkill but oh well!

I added two canisters to the front of my system with one being a 20 micron washable filter. I then put a 5 micron sediment filter after and changed up the original 3 pre-filters so it then goes 5 micron carbon into a 1 micron sediment and then 1 micron carbon filter! I also put all three resin beds on one clip that looks much better than 2 on one and then a single one at the end.

I took it even farther up the crazy ladder and installed two more canisters and added a 0.5 micron sediment filter and 0.5 micron carbon block. Yes I know it's overkill but oh well.

I also bought a 4 canister bracket to clean it up even more and changed a few of the canister connections to tidy it up. Tested it out and still had a little over 65 psi. I plan to add 3-way valves after each carbon block to flush them when I get new carbon blocks and I got validation I should do that as the TDS after the last carbon block going into the RO membrane was actually higher than the TDS coming into the first pre-filter.

that looks like a lot of stuff to replace when the time comes @afboundguy
In theory they should all clog up at different times and smaller micron filters should last longer. I do have a bunch of spares already so that helps!

Dave what are your thoughts on having the second RO membrane (water saver unit)? I am tempted to add one to mine to save some water bill and also just to be environmentally concerned. Especially now I am doing 20g every two week as my upkeep schedule. 120g of rejected water every month seem like a lot lol. Does it help much, not sure if yours come with it or you had one before and added a second?

It is supposed to cut down on waste water by half and it makes twice as much water. My water rates are crazy high so I could only imagine how much more I'd be paying if I had twice as much waste water.

I added the BRS add on kit and it was pretty easy and I went from 75 GPD to 150 GPD. I'm pretty sure I don't get 150 GPD with my pressure being at 65 psi but I'm sure once I add the booster pump I'll get closer to that and also cut down on the waste water amount as well.

Ok I am sold I'll prob get one when they go on sale

It was definitely worth the investment and I have had zero regrets since I got it. I can't wait to see how much better it performs with the booster pump when pressure is around 80 psi

Yeah I run my at 90psi and it is significantly higher production than when I was just running off tap pressure at 45

Depending on his TDS, the filters will last a long time. Mainly DI resin changes.

Looks good.
It's right around 0-2 TDS heading into the triple resin cartridges and the cation only resin will last me long time and it looks like I'll only need to replace the anion resin first.

Just added another RO stage to mine, oh boy the production rate it's day and night. Great rec!

Yep! It's awesome and a great upgrade if you have the PSI!!! I can't wait to see it after the Smart Buddie booster setup!
