120g in progress

B.rian

i would rather be diving
so i am starting up my 120g. i would like to throw a big thank you out to willray who built the stand and canopy. he was excellent throughout the process. always asking me what i wanted for ventilation, cords, access, etc. he did an awesome job, and i am very pleased with the results! i would also like to thank skiptons and B who were very helpful and pleasant when i ordered my tank and had subsequent questions. here are a few preliminary pictures. i need to order some sand from marco and then the tank will be set up.

Nice!!!

here are a few updated pics. the tank just finished being filled. it is cloudy from putting sand in, but not horrible. the last two pics are a sick rock structure i made from 2 nice pieces of marco shelf rock.

HOW do you make those rock pieces?! they look amazing!

looking great! Love that stand. And that piece of rock is just nuts...wish I had one for every tank I set up....

i had 2 sick pieces of marco shelf i bought a few years ago, and i was wondering how i would stack them. then i got the ingenious idea to fix them together. i thought about using nylon rods, but that seemed extraneous. i dremeled out a space on top of the rock where the base of the top rock would go. after forming a pattern with the dremel, i used drill bits to create the hole i need for the top rock to fit in. a little aquamend and super glue later, i have a sick piece of LR! i am so happy with it. it is in the tank now, but invisible thanks to the sand cloud.

Looks good.

Could you post a picture of the hinge that was used on the canopy? i am in the process of building a new one for mine and was thinking of using a piano hinge but I am looking for more options. Thanks.
