I have had 2 5 gallon buckets leak over my floor causing a huge mess. I am currently using the ace hardware buckets. Does anyone know a 5-gallon bucket meant to hold water? Thanks
Yea, Im surprised I have used them for years for freshwater and never had a problem. What usually happens is it breaks on the bottom.Shouldn't leak.
I've used 5 gallons bucket from Lowes to hold my ALK, CA, and MG solution when I was dosing. Never had any issue.
I believe I can throw the empty bucket from the second floor down the driveway and it still be able to hold water.
They have never been outsideI have only seen that for buckets left outside that freeze/thaw.
I stick with the white food grade buckets from Lowes - they have that easy on/off black lid
But isn't that their ad ?
Ace is the place with the helpful buckets that sometimes breeeeeeak View attachment 152591
Yea I’m going to try out the ones from home depot or Lowe’s.I haven’t had any problems with either HD or Lowe’s clear or white food grade buckets. I like the clear buckets with the foam handles
The buckets that salt comes in usually get cracked during shipping.
I was using them for 2 years in freshwater with no problem, but while using them for saltwater 2 have leaked.I've been using the white Ace buckets for almost a year now, no problems.
I like the idea of color differences, thanksI use white 5 gallon buckets for fresh saltwater, orange Home Depot buckets for old tank water or misc other fluids such as hydrogen peroxide left over from when I sterilize phyto culture stuff and I've never had an issue with leaking... I personally like the color differences especially when it comes to sterilization for phyto cultures...
I also think 5 gallon buckets are cheap enough that if they're leaking for you just get new ones...
yea plastic is a huge problemI was going to say... cheap junk buckets abound now. I noticed they don’t last like they used to. Salt buckets from IO used to be super tough, I have one that is 15 years old or more still kicking around. I have not bought buckets of salt in years, regardless of cost, , just boxes of bags since I hate the plastic waste. This stuff is screwing our planet on so many levels.
I wish I could do that, looks greatno buckets View attachment 152612
