Acro bleaching, can I frag it to save it?

Senior Toad Licker
I have an Acro that seems to be bleaching or some sort of tissue necrosis. It started at the base and has worked it's way up to the midpoint. All the branches are free of this bleaching(?), could I frag it to save it or is it a former Acro. Thanks, NBL

IMO, if you can get a frag of the coral into another tank, it's a good idea.
It's not a guarantee, but it's worth the effort.

Then we should figure out what lead to the bleaching/sloughing.

Thanks Moe, unfornately I don't have another tank, but I think I will try to frag it. Yeah, why did it bleach? I've had the nothing-going-right-for-me type of month. I had a small chromis die and I can't find it, now and worried about a nutient spike. Thanks, NBL

Where do you live?
Maybe there's a reefer in your area that could house the frag until everything's stable in your tank.

I'm in Bath,Maine, new to the area and sort of on my own. I'm thinking about redoing everything, larger tank, MH lighting, plumbing and sump, and putting all the livestock on life support in a small tank.

that's a little drastic, although one never needs a strong excuse to get a larger tank ;)

Start with basics... check all your parameters, and post them :)

I'm at work right now, (yup it's that's busy) and been lightly tesing. Without numbers, NH not showing up, no nitrate and a little nitrie. The tank has been re-set up after a west coast move for 2 months. I guess my frustration is leaking out, it just seems everything gets so complicated when I touch my tank. Too much stuff in a small sump, mostly. Thanks, Matt

I just got home and that peice is now totally bleached, wow, about 4 hours ago it was only half way bleached. More testing tonight. Thanks All,NBL
