Added sand and BLAMMO!

APISTOBORELLI

Bass in pic swam away
The Xenia frag in the tank seems to have died. Two days ago it was bright purple and pulsing away, now it's shrivled and white. Is it dead? I don't know what happened, I added the sand slowly and carefully. The sand came from a well established reef tank. It got a little cloudy but I ran a diatom filter and it cleared right up. The other corals (GSP, Green Tree) seem fine.

Thoughts?

Not sure. Xenia can actually be fairly delicate sometimes despite it's reputation as a weed. Unless it's actually falling apart, I'd leave it and see if it livens up.

Or just get some more from the free Xenia add's in the market place and try again now that the sand is in.

Edit: I know I have sandstorm'd the living crap out of my tank, Xenia didn't seem to mind at all.

Xenia

They are sensitive, but can also bounce back. I had a rock slide on one and it looked smashed. A couple days later it was out just like nothing happened. Leave it a bit and see what happens.
