I have a juvenile dijardin sailfin tang that his been in tank for6 weeks.
110 gal reef tank.
I added a clown tang which is larger then sailfin.
Sailfin went after clown tang .so I put a mirror up and it worked great .
Sailfin is too busy with his image to even notice the clown tang.
Question is how long do I need to keep the mirror up. When do u think it will be safe to take mirror down ?

In the past I kept mine up for 48h ish and the aggression usually dies down. But depending on the fish ofc, ymmv.

I wouldn’t put another tang lol
I made a mistake that I will never do it again. I have a blue tang. In my tank two months ago, I ended up getting another tang. But I got a blue powder tang . After two weeks he died don’t know what happened. But my blue hippo tang still healthy in my tank. Eats like a pig.

The best thing if you wanna put tangs in your tank you gotta put them at the same time if not, I don’t think it would work because it didn’t work for me. So literally my beautiful powder tang. died and I lost 75 bucks.

I had this issue when adding a Yellow Tang into my system that already had a Scopas Tang in it. The Scopas was larger than the yellow by about .5". The mirror trick didn't work well for me at all, but what did work was lights out for a few days. They are now living peacefully together and there is no aggression.

I used a mirror and an acclimation box. The box helps with the other fish getting used to a new fish. The mirror helps with them taking out that newcomer energy on themselves. 2 days later I released and all was ok.

I take the aggressor put him in a time out box in the tank it will calm him down for a few days
, when he is released he’ll be a model citizen
lol
