Adjusting tank water level

I have a oceanic tank with two overflows. I run two ehiem pumps in an oceanic sump. When I initially set up my aquarium the end of november I found that one of my pumps was missing an impeller. The store i purchased it at replaced the impeller and it seemed to work fine. The first week of February I heard a clicking comming from the sump. I noticed that the impeller that was replaced was the culprit. I called Eheim and would rather not discuss my experience with them at this point as it has not been good. I purchased a replacement pump and since noticed the water level in my tank has increased. I lowered the returns in the overflows, but it did not have any effect on the water level. Any suggestions on how to adjust this would be great. It only seems to cause an esthetic issue as you can now see the glass support in the center of the tank.

Thank you

You need to put a valve on the output of one or both pumps to slow the flow. Do not restrict the input, only the output. This should not hurt the pump, and will actually save a bit of electricity.

A gate valve will work best, but you can get away with using a ball valve.

If you can lower the returns anymore, do so. Over time the pump output will slow. You may also have to do as John suggests.

Thanks

I was not being agressive enough when lowering the intake tubes. Water level is now back where it should be.

As for Eheim I purchased two 1262 pumps for my set up. Put them into operation the end of November to find one of them did not have an impeller. The store replaced the impeller. Then the first week of February I hear a clicking comming from the sump. I investigate and find it is the replaced impeller. I call Eheim and they tell me they will send out new bushings. Later that day the thing stops. I call Eheim again and they tell me I need to send pictures, reciept, ect. I send everything including the reciept from a new 1262 that I had overnight delivered to my office. Several emails, faxes, and phone calls and nada.

So much for the three year waranty marked on the front of the box.
