The fish have all been together for over a year, maybe even 2 years. (Hippo, powder brown, purple tang, sailfin, foxface, anmonge other wrasse annd smaller fish). Out of nowhere my powder brown became an aggressor. His color even changed to a mean dark brown. He killed my sailfin about a week ago. His new target is my purple tang, who has already sustained some fin damage. I’m not sure what brought this aggression on, nothing other than Coral frags have been added recently.
I’m trying the “mirror” trick starting tonight. It worked for me once before when I added the purple tang as the last tang. I use about an 4 foot by 8 inch mirror. Immediately all the fish took shelter behind the rocks, and sure enough the powder brown immediately started (and continues to) fight itself. Hopefully he gives in and relinquishes the crown of being the alpha of the tank.
If not, I’m gonna need some guidance on how to capture it out of the tank without destroying the whole system. I have no experience with any fish traps.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Hopefully the mirror can resolve the issue and I don’t have any more casualties.
