Hey guys. Trying to figure out what this stuff is. It seems to grow on my skimmer intake/outtake, as well as within the skimmer. It also seems to grow on the glass where the powerhead hits it the most. It comes off easily and grows pretty quickly. ( covers front glass in 3 days. I do weekly water changes. Tank was started in November. Im not super concerned with it it just covers the glass so I can't see in it and I'd like to know what it is.

pretty normal for stuff to grow on the glass . but it can be reduced by reducing nutrients in the water . maybe a larger water change or 2 should help .

This is a good reference to use for algae id

Hrm it almost seems like this "Often a reddish brown, Lyngbya spp. are a type of cyanobacteria. Even though it looks just like hair algae and is filamentous rather than slimy. It dislodges easily from the rock, has no discernible root or mat structure and grows fast. Lyngbya species seem to grow very fast in warmer tanks, and spread quickly once attached to a powerhead, suggesting they can replicate by fragmentation easily. Nevertheless aggressive manual removal over time can be effective." But I'm not sure. I'll try the water change as well tho. I'm always on it weekly tho.
