Algae with air bubbles plz help

So I have a biocube 29 reef with tunze 9002 skimmer and trickle tower filter for filtration. I have been noticing that I have been getting much more algae and air bubbles in that algae than ever. I have done numerous water changes and checked all levels and the seem to be fine. I literally just cleaned the tank again and not 3 hours layers it's worse than before. Plz help and let me know what why and how to get rid of if you have any ideas. Will post pics when I can get a decent pic. Thanks

Sounds like dinoflagellates if it is then the water changes are making it worse. Do a search for dinos on the forum there have been a bunch of threads about it.

Try reaching in and touching / grabbing the growth. Does it feel like nothing and more or less fall apart, or does it feel like slimy snot?

Can you post a pic or two? We are either talking about cyano or dinoflagellates. They are very different animals to deal with and pics will make ID a lot easier. (does sound like dinos though, that's not good)

I have these bubbles too, mine doesn't seem awfully snotty more just like little air bubbles are stuck to short brown/redish algae on the rock and back wall

9 out of 10 are cyanobacteria, not an algae at all.

Reduce nutrient by feeding less.
More flow to get detritus up off the sand and to the skimmer.
Water changes.

Curious,do you feed corals? And if you do what is it?

I do marine snow and reef chili once/wk. I don't overfeed but the damn bubbles are nuisance and not to mention an eye soar, does Chemi Clean has any product that would help.

I feed reef chili but very, very sparingly.Reason I asked is because I had issues with cyano and found that frozen cyclopeeze was the case.
Boyds chemiclean works well for a reboot.Just make sure you shut the skimmer off and be ready for a lot of water changes.
The skimmer will keep foaming over until most of the stuff is out of the system.
