All Glass tank canopy question

Is anyone using the All glass brand canopies.

I have AGA 120 with the Mission style stand. I have been planning on bulding a custom canopy but havent had time.

Is there room to run MH, the canopy has only 8" of workable space inside.

If Im reading there web site correctly, it would place the bulbs about 4" from the water.

I have a 90 with an AGA canopy. I have the Jalli 250watt MH lights in there and it is working well. I did however replace the bulbs and t5s with Geismanns. I did cut two holes right above the vents and put some fans over the holes to pull the warm air out. It is working REAL well.

4" is close, cant you cut a clean hole is the top of the canopy and just have the mh housing stick up above the canopy? This would help with hieght and heat seeing that the vents wouldnt be inside your canopy anymore. If there isnt a housing case and your doing a retro with just a reflector the just cut a large whole and build a trapazoid type of top piece to cover. Just make sure you use the same type of wood and test out the stain color match on scrapes before you stain the whole thing.

IIRC you can just take the top cover off the AGA canopy and hang the fixture so the lights sit a bit higher, and you get more air circ.

I am using a retro system that I put together with icecap ballasts. I think I will go ahead a build a new canopy to match the stand.
