Anemone help please! Urgent!

I got a rose anemone a week ago and for a couple of days he was in one spot but ever since he has been walking around. He just detached himself from the rock and is floating around what should i do someone please help me!

You can keep him in a net overnight to protect him from getting chopped up in a pump. If you put a little rock in there he is likely to attach to it.

If you provide some specifics about your tank we can probably give better help.

most likely not the crab, could be the flow or lighting thats making it not happy. and your alk is only at 3? that seems waaay low IMO.

I have to disagree about the crab. They don't usually irritate an anemone in my experience.

I bet he is measuring alc in meq/L, so 3 is just right.

Lighting and flow are the keys to keeping anemones happy, but BTAs like a very wide range of conditions. Knowing what that is would help.

Have there been any large parameter changes recently? A large salinity swing or temp spike can make this happen.

How long has the tank been set up?

The moving is not a big concern as long as it doesn't get chopped up on a pump. It detaching is a more serious sign that something is wrong with it.

Is it still sticky? If you hold the foot to a rock, does it start ataching right away? How about the tenticles? Are they sticky?

There hasn't been any large parameter changes, no swing in temp of salinity, my tank has been setup for 8 and a half months and it does attach itself right away if i hold it to a rock. Will my clowns eventually kick the anemone crab out if they want to host it or should i take the anemone crab out because i want my clowns to host it?

If you have small rubble rocks in your tank, try and build some kind of cave where the flow won't sweep him away. They like to to be halway out in the light while the base is attached to some kind of crevice. In a few days it'll find a spot and attach. Are you running metal halides? Not sure on the crab.

My clowns slowly ate anemone crabs leg by leg.

My anenomes move around the tank every so often too. Right now one of them is in the top corner of the front of the tank, right at the water line. My skunk clown is not happy that it moved he wont go anywhere near it now, he has been living in a colony of zoos instead. Dont worry about it moving they do it every once in a while if they dont like the spot they are in.

If you put it between two rocks then it will most likely attach to one of them. It works for me.
