Hey guys/girls,

Does anyone have a good hospital tank setup and would be willing to help out a newbie?

Thanks to our tang (now dead), our tank has been a victim of ich. I tried to save the tang, but I guess it was too far gone.

Anyway, we've a few fish in our tank that we need to find hospitals for …

1 3.5-4.5" clarkii clown
1 3.5-4.5" green-bird wrasse (LOVE THIS FISH!)
1 gorgeous pink dottyback (if I can find her …)
1 yellow watchman goby (if I can find him :-/ …)
1 devil blue damsel
1 chromis

Anyway, let me know if you guys can take them in and bring them back to full health. You can keep them afterwards if you want; I just don't want them to die :(

Thanks for your help and let me know!

aww man that is a pain in the butt!!! sorry to hear your having such a hard time.. hope some one here can help you out..

I have a 16gal tank you can use if you want to set something up. Im in Malden shoot me a PM

Thanks Derek! I might have to take you up on that offer ... do you any filters with that that I can use as well by any chance? I've a 10 gal that I bought a filter for -- so I'll hospitalize some of my fish in there; but I don't think putting all my fish in a small tank would be a good idea because they might get aggressive against each other ... Thank you again for your help!!

I would hold off taking the fish out of the DT. Small tanks are hard to keep stable, and could IMO do more harm to the fish then then good.. Do a search on ick treatments on the forum. Hopefully someone with good experience treating ick will chime in..

Thanks Michelle -- I did a search and unfortunately, didn't find anything that will work in my DT with corals and other invertebrates in there ...

As I see it, my options are:

1) Let the fish live whatever life they've left in the DT the way it is, and after the last fish dies, let it run fallow for 2-3 months
2) Take out whatever fish I can catch, try to save them in hospital tank(s), and let the system run fallow for 2-3 months

Once I get home tonight, I'll try #2 ... these poor creatures didn't ask to be caught. We caught them for our pleasure; it's our responsibility to make sure they get treated well ... aaahhhhh. Sorry ... just wicked sad ... can't see the poor things getting tortured ... maybe it's just something that people over-come over-time ... once they see it happen a couple of times ...

I am assuming your whole tank is infected at this point? There really is no reason for a separate hospital tank unless your going to treat the tank/fish with medicine. Then you can save some money by treating less volume.

Hi Fishcull,

Yeah, I'm pretty positive the whole tank is infected. Well I was going to get some copper medicine and try to save the fish ... I do have a bunch of corals and do not want them to die because of the treatments required to fix the fish ...

I know I'm a long ride away but I have a 35g hex and stand and I could hook you up with a filter and heater all for free. will be home all day lmk

Thanks! :) But I don't want to put copper into a beautiful 35g hex tank! That tank would make a gorgeous sea-horse tank :)

I have a 30g and the filter and heater you can have for free too if you want.

pm returned see you at the meeting.

I'll have to check when I get home but I might have an extra bottle of copper safe, carbon, & some small PVC pipe hideouts your welcome to too. I'll be at the meeting as well.

I think it will be much easy for you just to buy a 20g long tank or borrow the tank from someone and qt them all at the same time.
it's hard to watch fish less tank for 4-5 weeks, so with the qt being at your house, there is something for you to watch.
I do not have any extra tank to lend out to you but I do have stuffs like a hang on back filter, heater, pvc, copper medication, etc....
a long plastic bin would also do it too.

Have you tried kick-ich? I have not used it but had brookynella and had to use their other product im pretty sure it is reef safe.

kick-ich or ich attack - i dot think these reef safe medication work though. I tried them in the past, none work. people at Petco also admitted that they do not work but for inventory they have to carry them in the store. Just so you know, these med makes your display tank spell stink and makes the water go from pure/clear to brown color. do not waste money on these stuffs.

yeah, I tried kick-ich … didn't do jack … or at least can't tell if it did anything anyway.

have a few long nights ahead of me :)
