anyone know about RK DC8 or have one to sell?

Blueflu1

The Acan Reaper!
Well, last night, I had a near electrical fire because I spilled water on an extension cord and it started arching like crazy and melted a hole in my rug before my breaker finally tripped. Now my plug to my RK DC8 literally has melted prongs. My questions

Does anyone know if you can replace just the plug on the DC8? I took it apart and I can't get the guts out of the housing and I can't seem to figure out if I can get the cord off to put a new one on.

If not, does anyone have one they want to sell?

I would cut the damaged plug off and replace it. then you can check if there's any damaged to the dc8. good luck

That was going to be my second route. I was hoping to be able to pull it out right from the box and replace the whole thing instead of having it taped together on the cord.

If you buy the right plug should beable to wire it direct w/ no tape. cut where the damaged head is, slide the existing cord thru the new plug head and then wire it up. you wont need any tape or splices

Put a plug end on cord. They cost $5-8 deppending if you want a nice Hubbel one. Big spade on left of outlet is neutral/white. Smaller spade on right is hot/black. Round one is ground/green.

I was thinking of going to home Depot and trying to find one. I assume that they are safe with all the current running through it.

Yup, there pretty straight foward. 120v, 15 or 20 amps and quality differances.

BTW, Rob, if you end up in a bind, I never used the DC8 that came with my ACIII. LMK if you need one....that way you can replace it at your leisure.

thanks for the help guys. Jay, I appreciate the offer. I may take you up on it. If by chance my controller doesn't work after I replace the plug on the DC8, I might impose on you to borrow your DC8 for a short time so I can see if the head was fried or not. I am hoping that my controller itself didn't get fried.

if you're coming to the meeting, LMK...I'll try and dig it out :o

Well, I got a heavy duty plug end and wired it on today. I plugged it in and tada! Everything works. I am so happy that when I almost burnt down my house, I didn't blow my controller.

Thanks for the help guys and thanks for the offer Jay, I appreciate it.
