APC, and Ranco cont. question.

This weekend I have got a Ranco controller and Sunday am getting a nice APC so I know my reef is a little safer.

The APC is pretty powerful. Should I just hook up the pump, and powerheads, and heater, or will the heater take to much juice?

On the controller I am hooking it up now. So, I was told to set the heater higher. So if I want my tank around 79 should I set the heater to 80 and the controller to 79? The controller also has this differential setting. What is the best with that?

Thanks

funny, I recently put my maximod on a large ups and it made quite a bit of noise...plugged it into the powerstrip directly and the noise went away...it ran but chattered a bit...had to be the way the power from the battery ups was running it

Interesting. I have an Oceanflow 1200 and a Seio1100. I really do not have to put both, just enough to keep the O2 up.

What size do you have?

Here is some info on mine:

1,440VA

980W Line-interactive battery backup

8-outlets with PowerChute Smart-UPS Bundle

Fenton powerpal 12A 930w....L1400A...6 outlets...
don't know more than that...IT guy at work gave it to me...def works...might try my seio 20 on it and see

cool, thanks for the help.

Anybody else no how much I can run on the above specs^^

I would set the Ranco to 80 with a 1 degree differential, it will control between 79-80 assuming your heater power is adequate. Set the heater at 83-84 keep in mind this is the heater turn off point it will reach this point only if the Ranco were to malfunction.

Sounds good, thanks Jim. I was not sure where to set the differential.

The Ranco is hooked up and set.

Now the APC! What can I run on this?

Come on people, it is reef safety weekend!!=tax refund check:D

Now that this is on the topic, I was thinking of ordering a 300w Finnex Titanium tube only. Will that be safe with the Ranco ?
