Apex Gold Sytem kicking my teeth in.

Damn...this is one complex system. Anyone want to help me set it up :D

Seriously though, I think I might have the most technologically advanced 30 gallon on the planet right now, but I don't even know what half this stuff on my dashboard is. Can anyone recommend any sets of videos or perhaps some 'Apex Fusion for Dummies' type reading material?

I'm on the ApexFusion forum already, yes...but would like to have more of a clue than I do know before looking like the village idiot on that site...not that it would be the first time or anything (thinking back to my first venture into salt water...with an air stone and a HOB filter...yeah...)

Just watch all the Bulk reef supply videos, that is what I did when I set mine up, make sure if you set any thing up with a time you set it at auto, if you set it just on it will not work with any times , I have only set a couple of feed modes so far, witch shuts things off for water changes or feeding, I it have so my skimmer turns back on after 4 min. after the feed cycle.

Hell I can't figure out how to set up my aqua medic Doser so its collecting dust.

LoL...this thing might be up for sale soon! I mostly bought it because I'm home so little these days, I like to feel like I know what's goin on with my tank back at home...

...but I didn't know you have to do actual code programming with these units...ugh!

Just for my information, why would you shut off your skimmer for a feed cycle?

I shut off my skimmer for feed cycle. You don't want to have the food skimming if the return is running because the fish won't have time to eat the food. I can't shut my return off because my tank will siphon or drain will (almost) overflow my sump. I need to put in a 1 way valve eventually.

what happen if you lost the power?

If the skimmer is located in sump no need to turn off. Only thing I shut down for feeding are my RW-8 but those go on a 10min timer automatically.
Sam how many gallons is your sump?

Because in the feed mode A I set it up so my main pump goes off ,One of three circulation pumps off and skimmer OFF for 4 min.'s longer when the system starts back up , when the main pump shuts off my sump raise's 2'' witch would cause my skimmer to over flow
Feed mode B I set up for water changes , so the fuge light will go ON, skimmer OFF , main pump OFF, heater OFF and auto top off OFF, I love it because now I dont forget to plug something back in, or my biggest habit before I got the Apex is I always forgot to shut the auto top off OFF and it would be filling water back in while I was doing the water change, Stupid I know, but I would do it all the time...lol Not no more.. I love my apex

As recommended above. Watch all the Bulk Reef Vids. It's like a 19 video series and then use Fusion to set it up. I hear ya I wanted to throw the thing against the wall in the beginning. Now it's not so bad

Don't see this being bought in the near future for me.. It would make it to the walls in about 10 mins.

First off I would try to connect it to your tank. I would have it laid out, and plug some lamps into it, and learn on those. If you didnt live so far I would go by and give you a hand. If you want you could either come to Malden, and I will help you here, of if you want PM me and I will give you my number. When I first got mine RussM form RC called me and set it up for me. That was many years ago, and I am sure they wouldn't be doing that anymore. If you know someone that can help you tai it. Once you "get it" you will love it, and never have tank without one. I have mine connected right now with just a stock tank. Its great just knowing whats going one all the time.

Good Luck Derek

Best thing about the apex forum is almost any "dumb" questions you can think of, someone else has already asked it.
There's a couple people on that forum that'll help you out and explain things in as simple a form as possible.

well, it took me almost the entire day, but i got the modules up and running (pm2 & wxm), probes hooked up and recognized (ph,salinity, temp, orp), the energy bar plugged in, the controller hooked up to ApexFusion (what a pain in the ARSE with a second hand system), and i plugged my ATO into outlet 4 on my EB8 just to test out the system. all is well, but there is certainly a learning curve here, sheesh!

on my apex dashboard, i'm trying to figure out what all the readings are at the bottom of the graphs...they aren't labeled anything that would really tell me what they are.
