Aqua C Remora Question

Just tore off my crappy sea clone and put a remora skimmer on my 40. Hooked everything up, but it only makes 1000's of bubbles. no skimming, anyone have this problem before.... or a way to enhance skimming with this skimmer

anyone?

Do you have any frozen cyclopeeze?
Put some of that in the tank. Usually makes my skimmer go nutso.

Did you just hook it up? They can take a few weeks to break in. I had one on my nano and preferred it much over the BakPak I was running before.

FWIW, I think mine took over a month to get to the point where it wasn't introducing microbubbles in the tank.

Is it new, or was it washed before you used it? It might take a couple of days to break in. You might have to adjust the band on the collection cup as well.

it is brand new. but my tank is filled with junk, cause last skimmer never pulled anything, so i know there is a ton in my tank.

when you say wash it out, you mean.... and will that help?

Don't need to wash it just let it be. It will start to skim after a week or so of break in. The micro bubbles will settle down after a few weeks.

Rosey is right. I have one as well, and it does take a good week for it really to start working and leveling out. Make sure you keep the injector clean if you notice a reduction in skimmate.

They take a week or two because of the oils that are left on them from the manufacturing process. There are a couple of ways to wash them out (vinegar helps) taht will speed it up, but generally its easiest to just ride it out.

rich is right (but i know he knew that)!!! i believe if you read the instructions that come with it, it mentions the fact that it will take a week or two because of the oils used in the production of the product. in addition it should mention that the bubbles will subside after this "break in" period.

but if you're like most of us men....you probably only read it after some one mentioned it and not before...i know i'm guilty of that more times than not!!!

pretty much, its in our blood... and your right it is in the directions

love my remora....took more than a week to break in....more like 3 weeks. and i havent really ever kicked the micro bubble thing in the tank....some days are good and some are not so good... the other thing i had a tiny bit of trouble is how high to put the band on the collection cup. your gonna have to toy with it to get it right.......i have mine like????? say 75% to the top.

hope it helps

The pre-skimmer box really helps reduce the micro-bubbles. Almost eliminates them. I noticed a significant difference after I put on the box- and after waiting a week for the oils on that to disappear.
