ASM recirculating skimmer ?

I have a g1-x and have the gate valve,mesh and recirculating mods.
I have another needle wheel pump and was thinking........are 2 pumps recirculating better than 1?

don't think the tube is big enough for contact time to produce a better foam before it overflows using the 2nd pump

Will have you measured how much air you're actually putting into the skimmer?

NO! I haven't! What's a good # and best(economical) way to measure?

Am I missing something?If it recirculating how can it overflow using the same water that's already in the reaction tube?
BTW it's being fed from my overflow...'bout 175 gph.
