Here is my Bump on my thread /Help:confused:

So our JBJ ato unit came in friday/ so far I love it but here is my ?

I am using one of those 30 gal brute cans as my RO Res to the left of our tank & so far I have noticed when the unit triggers on the pump puts the ro water in the sump like it should but when it stops the water continues syphon . the feed hose is not in the water like directions says & I even have extra hose doing a straight up/loop down to sump hoping that that would break syphon but its not:( there for I ask upon BRS land for help because I am a dummy when It comes to anything electrical/plumbing on this beast of a nano tank.

thanks again

steve

Sounds like the water level in the brute is quite a bit higher than the output end of the hose. You need to add a siphon break at the top of the loop. Wherever the highest point on the output hose is, put a T in and run a second line straight up. When the pump is running the water should follow the path of least resistance down to the sump. When the pump shuts off and a siphon starts to form, it will be broken by the air coming in the top hose.

what if I was to add a check valve? the hose is 3/4" I thought i saw them that size @ home depot I could splice the hose & get slip connectors for each end of the valve.

A check valve makes sure that water only goes in one direction. If I'm reading your problem correctly, your water is flowing in the right direction, it just doesn't stop when the pump stops.

You should be able to find a T thats 3/4" on both ends with a smaller barb in the middle that you can put a small length of tubing on pretty easily. You can put a check valve on the siphon break if you want, turned so it allows air to go in but not water out.

So after further thought I said to self  self what if i drilled a small hole in the bottom of the feed hose at the top of the water line In the brute can making for instant syphon break. well i had my drill out I made a hole in the side of the bucket as well for the hose so I can keep my wires & hoses from getting pinched by the lid all works like a charm now

Oh the simple things in this hobby that makes it interesting:)
