Baby pipefish

I've got about ~14 or so baby pipefish in my tank. Friend ordered a pair of them from FloridaPets.com. I guess the trip must have stressed the male out because he burst with babies when I started acclimating him. I've read their similar to seahorses in care but I don't know much about breeding seahorses either. Anyone have experience with these? I'd like to do my best to save them.
Thank you in advance!

How large are they, must be a blast to watch.

My pipefish doesnt mind flow, but I have NO idea about the little ones. Good luck with them, photograph the whole process please!

They are about 1" long and very very thin. I thought they were strands of algae at first till I saw voluntary movement. They hang out very close to the surface and near a power head so the babies appear to be strong swimmers. The parents are on the opposite side of the tank wrapped around some macro algae.
I can't get a decent pic of them yet. I can see them in the view finder but once I snap the photo they disappear, LOL. Probably the glimmer off the water surface. They were a pleasant surprise!

I had 2 of them in my 120 with 3 MP40s and they had no issues swimming around, pretty cool in a tank. Mine survived about 6mos, I dont know if they starved, or if one of the bigger boys got them.

I'd add some rotifers and just hatched baby brine. They are probably surviving off the tiny crustaceans in the system but may need more to thrive. Then as they grow gutload the brine. Good luck.

That friend of yours sounds like an awesome guy. :p

Figured I'd start at the bottom :encouragement:
